I dont know what will happen with Dybala, but I am so relieved to read that Zabaleta was released back to England and therefore will have nothing to do with our two upcoming WCQ matches!

Great stuff from Paredes. He has the ability to make defense-splitting passes (something none of the current midfielders can do) and he has a nice shot on him as well

Remind me why Biglia is still picked over this guy?

Argentina is completely oblivious to their young players. Paredes, Escalante, Gomez, Tagliafico and Rulli are all talented players who play in positions where Argentina desperately need reinforcement; yet the same garbage is called up over and over again.

Meanwhile Germany have players like Kimmich and Weigl (both born 1995) already introduced into the national team at the age of 20.

Defensive coaches are generally conservative when picking their players too, and Bauza is the definition of a conservative and defensive coach. Sampaoli would have been perfect for the NT.

2018 looks like would be just another chance for those beaten finalist instead of having tons of younger talents.

Expect similar run to all pervious tournaments since 2006.

How good of a defender is Paredes? The Roma forum isn't convinced he is a DMF. Perhaps, he can play more of a Banega role in the future.

Most of the Argentinos on Inter are doing well, including Ansaldi but you know the routine. It's like clockwork by now. We know who will get called up without even having to make a guess. We may get a surprise every now and then by some player getting called from Liga MX.

    An article on Banega.

    ----------------

Dybala needs to watch himself. It was around the same time last year when he got hurt and he missed the second leg of the Bayern match. I think it probably has a bit to do with him playing every single game without being rotated but he shouldn't be breaking down like this. If he wants to be one of the best in the world and get paid like a superstar, he shouldn't be missing important games during important times.

No that's why they are there for. I just copy&paste them also rather than argue nowadays, because work has already done, so why do it again? If statistic is logical, relative and easy to understand, it kills argument usually like that. If it doesn't, then you know that arguing is trivial and wont do anything either.

He is basically a young Pirlo. In other words, he plays a deep role without actually being able to defend well. However, his passing is absolutely phenomenal. He's very gifted in that regard.

Ideally, Argentina should play a 4-3-3 with Paredes alongside two destroyers, instead of playing a two man midfield with Biglia and Mascherano, neither of whom can actually create anything.

What does "60% finals (3/5)" mean? Messi has played in four senior NT finals overall and three since 09. He has never scored a goal in any of those finals, and neither has Argentina. They also did not win any of them.

    09-16

He also didn't score against Juventus although he was involved in every goal and clearly the best player of the game, like against Chile. Hence the actual relative comparison.

A young Pirlo. That is high praise. I guess we will have to wait to see him because if we do end up going to Russia, I think I can already fill out majority of the players that will be there.

    Absolutely....

    GK: Romero, Guzmán, Andujar

DF: Mas, Rojo, Funes Mori, Otamendi, Mercado

    MF: Mascherano, Biglia, Banega

FW: Di Maria, Messi, Dybala, Agüero, Higuain, Pratto

That's 17 of 23 places 100% taken (barring injuries) right there....

    Only question marks are:
    1) who's gonna be the last CB (Musacchio or Maidana)
    2) if Zabaleta will make it or not
    3) the 3 midfield substitutes (Kranevitter, Pizarro, Perez, Pastore, just to name a few possible names)
    4) the final extra winger (Correa, Gaitan, Lavezzi...)

We will suffer the same fate like Italy in 2010 , Spain in 2014 and Argentina in 2002. Relying on bunch of players who has been in multiple major tournaments for many years.

Dybala at least will be part of the manager's plan even if he's injured and absent for this round but we still need to replace many others with new face.

This round would be very crucial , we'd need at least 4 points, even 3 points means Argentina probably needs to keep fighting till very last minute of the qualifier like in 2010.

I hope this is a bad joke

How many more times does Argentina have to fail before Bauza realizes that Biglia and Mascherano in a two man midfield just doesn't work?

How many more games does Aguero need to have before Bauza realizes that he's useless for Agentina, especially in a two striker system?

What does Dybala need to do to get in the freaking starting 11?

Personally I'd replace Di Maria with Dybala, Biglia with Perez, and take out Aguero for Banega to add extra control in the midfield.

The only thing he's got right is playing Rojo at centerback.

Dybala is out injured. He would've started instead of Kun.

As a River supporter, there was nothing more comforting for us than having Bauza come to el Monumental. It was a guaranteed 3 points. He's never won here for San Lorenzo, Rosario or Sao Paulo... Will he break his "duck" tonight?

The pitch looks like trash. Might as well been playing at some local park.

We played until we scored. When we scored, Chile decided to play and we've been terrible since.
    Shocker.

    No midfield as usual.

Otamendi misses a sitter. Could've been up 2-0 against the run of play.

Well, at some point our opponent is going to press... just need to defence stay compose and t will frustate them after a while , we can hit one more goal to settle it.

The team hasnt look good for a while so I'm not expecting a sharp improvement in all sudden. In this round, it would be more about result even if we're going to play it ugly (I dont mean a harsh play).

Did they have horseraces yesterday on the pitch? Other than passing from defense, which was horrid, pretty good half. Chile has an obvious tactical edge, but they are very fixated on Messi which leaves spaces for Mascherano to ball, or when Messi beats first opponent it's always something dangerous.

The irony is that Chile hasnt beat Argentina since ... forever... but the two games that mattered in recent time, they drew and won the shootout.
