The RWNJ set was drooling all over Sarah-freakin-Palin a few years ago. I s'pose for some old white guy Republican with a big belly and more greed than brains, it makes sense. While I find AOC attractive, her ideas and how she can be a game-changer over the next several years is that I find most attractive about her.

The Dems need someone who is smart, articulate, media savvy and can connect with people. In 10 years, I hope she's still on the scene and driving the agenda. You need to stand for something, and right now, not being a bat-shit crazy, racist misogynist sub-human Trumpanzee is the bare-minimum baseline, not the finished product.

Jeebus. If Friedrich Nietzsche had been a soccer fan, this could've been a quote from Twilight of the Idols.

    You can go with
    "I am an original creation,
    I'm first in the nation"

But then you'd have to move to New Hampshire and pull out half of your teeth and start eating raw hotdogs, so I dunno if it would be worth it

It's blank verse. It sounds like what a Shakespearean villain would say. Iago, for example.

This. She puts out intelligence, and seems quite prepared, but such is the fairly low levels of people in Congress, it looks as if she is intelligent. I agree that for now, she has proven how clever she is, but not yet that she has the intelligence many are giving her.

But, to be fair, great people/quotes are copied all the time. MLK Jr lifted from Ghandi. The DofI lifted from Locke.

We also have the double-standard. If a republican can string 3 sentences together he is a policy wonk.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I once met a stripper named Candhi, but at least she was smart enough to spell her own name correctly.

She was pretty high up on the depth chart if you knew how her name was spelled.

Uh... what did her music sound like?

Q’s post was so bizarre. At least from the perspective of this jazz fan when you look at how much the genre evolved b/w big band to bebop to contemporary to free jazz...

So much to experience that I find it hard to believe anybody couldn’t find some pleasure in some area of jazz. The US gave the world jazz...we also gave them Trump. What a gigantic fall.

@superdave please free to open the P&CE all purpose jazz thread.

I think people underestimate her intelligence at their peril.

And calling her "clever" is such an insult. She has shown me by her words and actions to be smart enough for the job she was elected to. If your first response is to attribute her success so far to "cleverness" -- what reason do you have to doubt her intelligence?
