Man, I would be up for that...but I have class until 3:30pm.

After that I meeting up with two classmates, taking a taxi to San Jose to meet up with two others, and then going straight to the stadium. I should be there before 6:00pm, though, so I'd see you inside.

But if you're looking for some drinks beforehand, right up the street from where there's a stop for buses from San Pedro and another for buses from Sabanilla, there is (no kidding) a "Dos Gringos" Bar - check with an actual Costa Rican on this one, but I think it's a play on Dos Pinos (omnipresent local dairy company).

Thankfully, I got my ticket this morning. I am staying at the Crowne Plaza Hotel San Jose Corobici. I wanted to be close to the Centro Israelita Sionista de Costa Rica so that I could pray for a drubbing of the Ticos. I will be hitting up the kosher Burger King before the match, the only kosher Burger King outside of Israel...

I'll be flying in the morning of May 31 and staying at Hotel Aranjuez. I'm hoping some of us can meet up the day of the game at a pub. Maybe we can try to arrange a meeting place on this thread once we're all in San Jose, since we'll only know some of the pubs and other places to go once we actually get there.

A friend of mine recommended two bars near the stadium, Boogaloo and Rolling Stone.

Oh, and for that roll call list

Oh yes, for those of you that will be traveling to Costa Rica for the first time, a bit of culture-shock-avoiding counsel (and I wish I were kidding):

You can't flush toilet paper down toilets here. I'm serious. Not that it's illegal or anything, or that it makes sense that the toilets can receive...other things, let's say...and not toilet paper, but if you flush it, even in tourist hotels you will block it, and the locals will give you either the "stupid gringo" look (or, even more embarrassing, the "aww, poor naive gringo" look) as they call someone to fix it.

Where is everyone staying? We will be at Hotel Aranjuez in San Jose for the 2nd and 3rd and possibly the night of the 30th. I'm predicting we're at least 50 strong but I'd love to see at least a hundred.

    Actually, the package includes:
    • One night accommodations at the Radisson Europa Hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica
    • Check-in Wed, June 3rd / Check-out Thurs, June 4th
    • Official match ticket in US Supporter section for Costa Rica vs. USA
    • Round trip motor coach transfers from the hotel to/from the USA v Costa Rica match
    • Professional Onsite Concierge Services

    http://shop.oleole.com/buy1.asp?action=NEW&DP=&ProgramID=PP100804&lang=en

Still a bit of a ripoff. They also have just the ticket and round-trip bus to the game for $125. Now that's a ripoff.

I booked a double room in the same hotel for two nights - total is $305, which is $152.50 per night. We've got match tickets in the "official supporters' section" - $20 each, $40 total. We'll take a taxi from the hotel to the stadium - around $5.00 each way, max

The total price for two nights in the same hotel, game tickets and transportation for my wife and me is roughly $355.

If we were only staying one night and booked it ourselves, it would cost around $202.50 ($152.50 for the room, $40.00 for the tickets, $10.00 for the taxi round trip).

The total price for one night in the hotel through Ole Ole would be $420.

I have no idea what "Professional Onsite Concierge Services" are. For double the price of a do-it-yourself trip, maybe Ole Ole is providing hookers and cocaine.

    ;)

OLEOLE books you a room with the player of your choice.

Which would work with the USWNT and Heather Mitts, here, not so much....

The friend, whose wife is a Tica, and whose father-in-law lives about 3 or 4 blocks from the stadium, sent this e-mail yesterday:
