Think the Last Yugoslavian team or ESPN's documentary on Israeli Soccer. It can also be a series like the international rivalries series.
The ESPN 30 for 30, "The Two Escobars." The documentary "Pelada" about pickup soccer. "Rise and Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story." They're available on Netflix and Amazon.
You can find "The greatest rivalry in football" or something like that on Youtube. It's the story of the Rangers/ Celtic rivalry. Excellent documentary but not for the faint hearted (or kids).
Several people have posted HERO to youtube, its the documentary of world cup 86. Its one of the best ive seen Also search 'history of football' this was a series of I think 11 episodes studying various aspects of football history and culture, narrated by terance stamp. Not all of them are on youtube, but a few are. This id the best football documentary imo. A must for all fans and historians of the game 'Football's greatest' series, half hour looks at the lives and careers of the great players. Youtube user matt6skills has somr of the big ones like pele maradona zidane but there are many other episdoes u can find on youtube Lots of countdowns from England. Football transfers that shook the world, goals that shook the world. Most shocking world cup moments, world cup 2010s most shocking moments Someone mentioned jay demerit on netflix, netflix also has 'one night in turin' about england at wc 1990
There is a 13 parts documentary box set called "History of Football- The Beautiful Game BOXSET" (part 1-ORIGINS part 2-Football cultures part 3-Evolution of European game part 4-European superpowers part 5-Brazil part 6-South American superpowers part 7-Club and country part 8-The Dark side part 9-Superstars part 10-The media part 11-Africa part 12-A game for all part 13-Futures) This one (part 6, my favorite) focus specially on Argentina, Uruguay, Brasil and Colombia football and its origins in South-America. And I guess you can find the other parts in Youtube.
Not sure many people have seen this documentary, Netflix has it. It is great, many people dont know but the NY cosmos sold out the Giant Stadium back when Pele was playing, soccer was huge in the US at the time. Must watch Once in a Lifetime: The Extraordinary Story of the New York Cosmos
There's tons of soccer documentaries on youtube. The Four Year Plan Once in a Lifetime you can type in Football Documentary BBC or Football Documentary ITV and a bunch show up
I think one of the best ones is the Doc about the Homeless World Cup. Really interesting to watch and motivating
I guess he is referring to football as a whole including its history, basics, and players.. Why not just use the keyword 'football' only?
My favorite is called "in the hands of the gods" its about a group of freestylers from England who go on a journey to meet diego maradona by earning money doing street preformances. It can be watched on youtube.
Netflix has a new documentary on Thierry Henry's move from Barcelona to the NY Red Bulls. I haven't checked it out yet
