*That* Elliott Management? The ones who took the software company I worked for down by announcing to the world that they wanted to acquire it and sell it off? The ones that made it a self-fulfilling prophecy because no one wants to buy million dollar software systems from a company that might get acquired? Sure this will end well.
Yup. And it will end well for Elliott Management, of course. Poor Milan, though. https://www.ft.com/content/cc87fbe0-e5e9-11e9-b112-9624ec9edc59

AC fans less than enthusiastic about the transfer: http://www.milanworld.net/milan-robinson-accordo-raggiunto-vt85450.html#post1991930 "Comes maybe to play 3 games, if Theo gets a cold or gets suspended." "This thing should even be called a negotiation. A player from the English second division? I'd be ashamed having to present him [to the fans]." "Don't we have some kid in the Primavera to promote for 4 months?" "We'll try to pay him little, I think soon we'll try to palm him off without a loss." Etc. Mediterranean countries have no love for England or the USA. And it's not just soccer.
If the price is anywhere near 10 million Euros then it would be silly to do the deal if he isn't going to play. The 1st comment makes it sound like he would be paid to sit on the bench.
2-1 win that moves Wigan to 4 points from safety. That was their last match before the transfer window closes. The fact that Robinson played in it suggests that the deal isn't close at all, if the rumors are even real to begin with.
Yeah.... I would love for a US Intl to be playing in Italy. We are completely under-represented in Serie A and La Liga.... but if some of the concerns about whether he would actually get playing time were actually true... then I would rather him stay in the Championship and remain a starter.
Well, the silver lining is that even if he must stay in League One due to lack of interest (I doubt that), he'd look awesome there.
Sky has Ricardo Rodriguez on the move to PSV, and leaves open the possibility of Milan moving for Robinson to replace him.
France?: AC Milan and Lyon are both trying to sign former Everton full back Antonee Robinson from Wigan, Milan are loaning Rodriguez to PSV and need a replacement but Lyon have now come in for the 22 year old, who cost £2M from Everton in the summer— Alan Myers (@ALANMYERSMEDIA) January 30, 2020
@bshredder Is any of this legit? I doubt he'd remain on Wigan's book if they drop into the 1st division, but I can;t see him making the jump to Milan or OL?
Wigan Athletic have rejected a £6.5million bid from AC Milan for defender Antonee Robinson. #wafc #ACMilan https://t.co/nrCFMP5WXo— Pete O'Rourke (@SportsPeteO) January 30, 2020
The thought has to be that he's got multiple suitors and they can get a higher bid. If he stays he's gonna go for peanuts this summer when they get relegated.
Wigan needs to weigh the price they would get for him versus the cost of moving down to league 1. If keeping Antonee means you have a significantly better shot of staying in the Championship then they are probably smart to reject unless the price is a lot higher than his perceived worth.
Wigan isn't staying up unless they get significantly better and fast. That 4 point gap is an illusion. They have a GD of -17, the worst outside relegation is -12, and that's a 6 point gap. I don't see any evidence they are buyers this break? And to be honest, left back isn't what's going to make or break it. And 6.5m gbp is a lot of money for a club like Wigan. IIRC, they haven't had a sale of that size since 2014, when they sold James MacArthur to Crystal Palace for 7m gbp.
I dunno... they are 4 behind Charlton and 5 behind Stoke w/ over 15 games to play. Doesn't seem at all insurmountable. But honestly, I have not watched them play much at all this season so I am not really in the know with respect to their talent level.
