It's utterly ridiculous to think he'd pick a country to which he has basically no connection, apart from being born there, which is not considered a connection in itself in the continent in which he lives. Kolasinac chose to play for Bosnia when he was not only born but raised in Germany and indeed played for Germany youth teams (and would probably be in the Germany squad for this World Cup); going back a bit, Prosinecki chose to play for Yugoslavia and later Croatia when he was born in Germany and lived his first 10 years there (he was living in Zagreb by then though). Both are infinitely more German than Sabanadzovic is American.

I hope not, he's Bosnian, and "in reality" rather than technically, only Bosnian (well maybe Montenegrin too, his dad was born in Tuzi).

He's officially signed a 5-year deal with AEK Athens and has been loaned back to his old club for the rest of this season.

A 21-YO fringe player for a the fourth place team of the 17th ranked league in Europe - I don't think there's gonna be too much of a tug-of-war over this guy.

    Possibly headed to MLS?

Anel Sabanadzovic will not continue at FK Zeljeznicar and AEK.

they are already thinking of a new assignment. Both Colorado Rapids and Columbus Crew would be interested in the 21-year-old midfielder, who was born in Missouri.

Linked with a loan move to a newly promoted Greek side in Bosnian press.

He didn't show anything at Zeljeznicar on loan. The general consensus is that he's overhyped and would be a surprise if he ever makes it AEK.

Not sure his current status, but sounds like he has had some serious injury issues, and had surgery (for the second time in six months, seemingly on his ankle) a bit less than a year ago.
