Okay, so he developed a relationship with Stamm, who didn't give him a chance? If Reading go down, there are certainly stormy waters ahead. But he is bedded in at Reading. Moving to a new club is always a risk and always an adjustment. If Telstar goes up and has a bit of cash on hand (not a certain thing in either way) moving to them might work. But moving when you're not being sought is an iffy thing.
The camera panning Momma Novakovich as her son made his USMNT debut was priceless. What a feeling. The emotion from her just overflowed. A very proud and special moment for the Novakovich family. It’s rare we get to see the parents and their reaction. Almost choked me up as a parent.

Wow! To us oldertimers around here........Maurice Ligeon is a name I have not heard of in ages. Wonder what that dude is up to?
I had never heard of him, but he was fired from Almere in a fairly messy affair in August 2017. He has his own coaching thread now.
Man, a Maurice Liegon reference. You gotta go way back with American soccer to get that one and even then, it's pretty obscure. Capped by Bora in the fall of 94 when Bora was just playing out the clock on his contract and not being the most discerning. It was about this time in his US tenure Bora gave gaps to the likes of Marcus Hahnemann, then playing in the APSL, and his teammate with the Sounders, Jason Dunn as well as Zach Thornton and Ante Razov, who were still playing college soccer. Ligeon just popped in outa nowhere, got a cap, then disappeared and was, literally, never heard of again by American soccer. Here are the lineups for Bora's final games with the US after the World Cup. @ England 2, USA 0 – 9/7/94 Brad Friedel (Jurgen Sommer 81'), Jeff Agoos (Mike Lapper 70'), Marcelo Balboa, Alexi Lalas, Paul Caligiuri, Thomas Dooley, Mike Sorber, Claudio Reyna (Joe-Max Moore 81'), Cobi Jones, Ernie Stewart (Frank Klopas 81'), Hugo Pérez (Eric Wynalda 46') @ Saudi Araba 2, USA 1 – 10/19/94 (Frank Klopas, PK 64) Brad Friedel (Jurgen Sommer 57'), Jeff Agoos, Marcelo Balboa, John Doyle (Gregg Berhalter 46'), Lawrence Lozzano (Maurice Ligeon 72'), Janusz Michallik (Chad Deering 46'), Mike Sorber, Claudio Reyna, Cobi Jones, Frank Klopas (Jovan Kirovski 78'), John Kerr @ Trinidad 1, USA 0 – 11/19/94 Marcus Hahnemann, Jeff Agoos, Marcelo Balboa, John Doyle, Paul Caligiuri (Zak Ibsen 46'), Lawrence Lozzano (Nelson Vargas 68'), Mike Burns (Jorge Salcedo 46'), Mike Sorber, Janusz Michallik, Frank Klopas, Jovan Kirovski (Jason Dunn 61') @ Jamaica 0, USA 3 – 11/22/94 (Jovan Kirovski 25, Frank Klopas 52, PK 64) Marcus Hahnemann (Zach Thornton 69'), Jeff Agoos, Marcelo Balboa (Jorge Salcedo 46'), John Doyle, Paul Caligiuri (Zak Ibsen 46'), Lawrence Lozzano, Mike Burns, Mike Sorber, Janusz Michallik, Frank Klopas (Nelson Vargas 64'), Jovan Kirovski, (Jason Dunn 46') Honduras 1, @ USA 1 – 12/11/94 (Jovan Kirovski 90) Marcus Hahnemann, Jeff Agoos, Marcelo Balboa, John Doyle, Paul Caligiuri (Zak Ibsen 67'), Mike Burns (Paul Bravo 82'), Mike Sorber, Chris Henderson, Janusz Michallik (Lawrence Lozzano 46'), Jovan Kirovski, Jason Dunn (Nelson Vargas 46') Uruguay 2, @ USA 2 – 3/25/95 (John Kerr 9, Ernie Stewart 67) Jurgen Sommer, Lawrence Lozzano (Zak Ibsen 46'), Alexi Lalas, Paul Caligiuri, Jeff Agoos, Cobi Jones, Mike Burns, Chad Deering (Ante Razov 46'), John Kerr, Jovan Kirovski, Ernie Stewart
If I were in charge of a team, I would never sign any player who wants a relagation clause in his contract.
Most teams that are confronted with that are the ones with the most chance being relegated and not with much choice if they want a player they need.
If they stay in one of the 2nd-5th place or win the last period title (https://teletekst-data.nos.nl/webtekst?p=830-2) with 6 of the 8 matches to go they can battle it out for one promotion place in the play off. Not likely they will become champions with a direct promotion (https://teletekst-data.nos.nl/webtekst?p=830-1) with 8 points behind leader NEC and 7 matches to go.
Yup. position** club*******p**w**d**l**pts**goals 1.*******NEC + 31 18 7 6 61 68-37 3.*******Fortuna + 31 18 5 8 59 68-39 4.*******Telstar 31 14 11 6 53 62-56 5.*******FC Emmen31 12 15 4 51 48-37 7.*******Graafschap 31 12 10 9 46 60-39 8.*******MVV Maastr 31 12 7 12 43 49-45 p=played w=wins d=draws l=lost pts=points goals for/against + means period title
But it's a tough job to promote via the play off as you have to fight it out with the 2 Eredivsie teams that enter in the (for them relegation) play off. Kazlauskas had a few shots at it with his teams but never could make it in.
How does it work? 8 promotion candidates play each other and 2 winners play against 2 Eredivisie teams? Or just 6 candidates plus 2 Eredevisie teams?
The 8 Jup teams that qualified for the play off are ranked in the order they finished in the league. In the first round the lowest 4 play each other. Nr. 5 vs nr. 8 and nr.6 vs nr. 7 in a home and away match. In the 2nd round the winner of 5 vs 8 then plays Eredivisie team 17 and the winner of 6 vs 7 battles it out with Ered nr 16, which leaves 2 winners. The 4 top Jup teams play each other in this round: nr. 1 vs nr 4 and nr 2 vs nr 3. These winners then play the winners of the Ered vs Jup teams. Red plays vs Orange and Blue vs Purple. The winners will play in the Eredivisie. I'm beginning to wonder if I still got it right.
On the other hand, having players with relegation clause in their contracts increases the chance that the team will get relegated. They likely are also bad for the morale of a struggling team. Teams at the wrong end of the table need fighters, not players getting ready to bail.
Why would you sign a contract with a clause, make the club relegate and thus put a smear on your resume instead of going to a club that isnot in that position in the first place. It looks better on your resume when other managers see you were instrumental to keeping the club up. So no, your reasoning doesnot make sense, but we're side tracking now.
I can't believe this kid is 6'4. And can actually score on a consistent basis (even if it's a 2nd division). I had hoped for years we might see a Zlatan-esque figure show up. Or even a Peter Crouch-type.
Easy tiger. he ain't all that yet. From the little snipette the other night, he is somewhere between those two and more Kenny Cooper. Not that there's anything wrong with all that. He is riding a wave of confidence as evidenced by his going for goal whole heartedly. Bet he scores a few more when he gets back to Telstar.
