Scored the only goal: The only goal of the game came in the 72nd minute - @AndrijaNovakov3 sent the Magpies stopper the wrong way after Richards won a penalty…— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) April 3, 2017
Starts against Arsenal U23s: It'll be a tough challenge for our U23s today against some experienced @Arsenal players at Hogwood. Kick-off at 1pm - we'll bring updates. pic.twitter.com/vsUxdbKF7k— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) April 10, 2017 And scores: GOAL! @AndrijaNovakov3 opens the scoring in the second minute. Well-taken goal after a fine move down the right. 1-0!— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) April 10, 2017
What's next for him? Does he have a shot at first team minutes with Reading or he is going to have to leave the club? There can't be a lot left to prove at the U-23 level.
Starts for the U23s: U23s vs Sunderland: Legg, Watson, Richards, Andresson, Dickie, East, Rinomhota, Quinn, Meite, Barrett, Novakovich.— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) May 8, 2017
GOAL! 3-0 - it's a gift for Novakovich. A ball back to the goalkeeper is short again and he latches, rounds the stopper and slots in.— Reading FC (@ReadingFC) May 8, 2017
Doyle mentioned he's out of contract this summer, and intimated MLS teams would be interested, probably as a backup to start - Chicago, Minnesota, Colorado. I'd be very interested to see how he fared when finally given the opportunity. He has a talent to be a factor as an all-around cf. Can hold-up, dribble, pass, and score.
Doyle is so full of sh!t. In the same article referenced earlier in this thread, he was saying Novakovich wasn't having a good season or playing well. Doyle doesn't know what the eff he is talking about 90% of the time, how does he have the position he does?
That's because he's good. Really good. He obviously has a good No. 9's brain and a good toolkit. Four-minute highlights of a game - even 4 minute highlights of one player in one game - can be misleading, but from the highlights we've seen this season, hanging around playing under-age ball any longer is a waste of his time. Whether MLS or Europe, it's time to get first-team action and show that he doesn't just have the requisite abilities; he can deliver under pressure against grown men as well.
Kind of how he's been playing football for the last five seasons. Seriously, MLS' reputation took a bit of a hit in Ireland when he was signed on a DP contract. We'd given up on him as a lost cause by that stage.
