snip: It’s a similar story in Germany where German-American Andrew Wooten is the fourth leading scorer in the second tier. Wooten scored his eighth goal of the season for Sandhausen this past weekend in a 3-1 win at Nurnburg. That’s Wooten’s best goal haul since his days with Kaiserslautern’s reserves five seasons ago. Sandhausen stand eighth in the 2.Bundesliga, six points out of the promotion playoff spot. The 27-year-old spent five seasons with 1.FCK before joining Sandhausen, located just five miles south of picturesque Heidelberg. He’s the son of a German mother and an American serviceman, and made his national team debut as a late substitute in a friendly last October against Costa Rica. As the U.S. found out in the 2014 World Cup, depth at forward is a necessity. http://www.beinsports.com/us/americ...ns-overseas-the-traveling-troops-look-/386656
Been following him of late. He doesn't just score, he spearheads the attack. Vital player for them, and actually deserving of a chance to jump to the BuLi. Depends on the team, too. Bobby is half-screwed with HSV, for example. Andy needs a team that has a decent midfield.

To say Wooten is streaky would be an understatement. It's the story of his career. He'll score like 8 goals in 6 weeks and then go cold for 9 months. When he's on, he can do no wrong. But he's not really all that consistent. At 27, that is probably unlikely to change. It is what it is.
Wooten is played mainly as a winger. If you check the stats, he seldom played anything but RW. He does NOT score as a winger. This season he was moved to forward due to personnel trouble. And he's scoring nicely. The last time he had played a run of games as striker was back in August/September 2014, when he was new to Sandhausen. He was scoring a goal per game then. Thing is, he's more important to Sandhausen on the wing. So, even though he scores a lot, don't be surprised if they get another striker and move him back to wing. He's scoring at will, but they're not winning enough games. It's ironic but they do better with Wooten on the wing. They're more likely to win it 1-0, instead of tying it 2-2.

Sanhausen's coming up alive far too late. Had they started a bit better, they'd be in the promotion play-off zone.

Sandhausen got easily dominated by Schalke. 3-0 at the half, I don't think Wooten has touched the ball more than twice. 90% of the action happened in the second division team's area.
Andy scored!!!!! 3-1. Free kick to Knipping who heads it into the area & Wooten catches it neat. And Schalke scored again. 4-1.
