That list of strikers FCK has IMO is not very impressive and it surprises me that a guy who was the reserves top scorer right? Isnt getting a chance with the 1st team at the start of this season.

The two main strikers are going to be Shechter and Kouehama. Micanski and Sukuta-Pasu are going to be the options off the bench. That is three internationals and a youth international. Derstroff, another youth international, will be playing with Wooten on the reserve team. When Nemec comes back from injury he will slip into the rotation and be the first option off the bench.

Like I said, though, Kaiserslautern will often use an extra offensive midfielder and go with one on top. That is why there are less opportunities for Wooten.

When Kaiserslautern is back from camp, I could see Wooten getting some chances. That is what happened last year.

I am just curious since you seem to be a good authority on FCK, what will it take for wooten to get promoted to the 1st team? Do the coaches think he is not ready for this level? He was seemingly very successful last season with the reserves so im confused why they would not bring him up

Keep in mind that the reserve play in the Regionalliga (division 4). That's a far cry from the Bundesliga. With the large gap, it's possible to be a very good 4th division player while at the same time being unready for the top division.

Maybe Wooten will eventually make it with Kaiserslautern, but it's more likely that he'll ultimately drop down to a team in the 2.Bundesliga or 3.Bundesliga like Preston Zimmerman, for example.

Wooten scored 8 goals in Kaiserslautern II's 28-0 win over SV Herta Kirrweiler. Much harder opposition from here on out. Testspiel with TuS Mechtersheim, which plays in the Oberliga, today.

    New Club Aricle

Talks about training, first three games, and how Wooten is one of the two best players so fair in camp and in testspiels.

At some point the Kaiserslautern management is gonna have to give this kid a chance with the first team, right?

Put in a full 90 in Kaiserslautern II's 1-0 win over Entracht Frankfurt II.

    Match Report

He was the only one who got a good look in the first half, which was played almost exclusively on Kaiserslautern's half of the field.

The strikers really turned over this year, so it depends. Kurz has shown that if he cannot get two producing strikers on the field he will put on another midfielder. Whether Wooten gets a chance will depend a lot on whether their are a lot of injuries.

I was surprised that Wooten re-signed with Kaiserslautern. He will turn 22 early in the season. European clubs usually have a firm idea of whether they view their 22-year-old academy products as first team players or as reserve team filler. In Wooten's case, it appears to be the latter. He's clearly too good for the Regionalliga; I think he would have been better off testing himself in the 3rd Liga or perhaps the 2.Bundesliga if he's good enough to get an offer there.

Wooten scored a goal in a win over a regional select team.

A goal and an assist in a 2-2 tie with Al Hilal. He almost had three goals.

Hmm weird. What type of player is Wooten. Is he a poacher or more stylish player?

Hey this guy with the SAME club was a late bloomer as well
(and wound up doing PRETTY darn good for himself):

pay close attention to the age of his explosion on the scene:
December 2000, when he was 22 1/2 with 2 goals
in the dying minutes of a match. Remarkable story.
(starring for Germany at World Cup just 1 1/2 years later)

Would be kind of cool if Wooten became the 'American Klose' :)

He has been playing a lot up top by himself, but not exclusively. Big body, uses it very effectively.

This kid is starting to look like the Crash Davis of lower division German soccer.

Kaiserslautern had zero shots on goal in a 2-0 loss to Dortmund's reserve side. Wooten was clearly pulled down in the box early, but there was no call.

Who was the guy who was at Union Berlin, scored a bunch of goals in the old 3rd division of German soccer, but came to Columbus Crew around 2004 for just 3 years (did ok- I think he got 6 goals one year...not so much the other years) and wound up going to school/playing lower league socccer?
