That is some of the worst defending you will ever see and that came from a Maryland team that won the national title on the back of its defense with Donovan Pines, a probable DCU Homegrown, getting torched. Seven guys sitting on back of their heels, upright, none broken down to defend and Gutman smoked them. It would have taken one guy in correct defensive posture / positioning to either knock Gutman off the ball or make a tackle. Sigh.........college soccer! Coach rant over.
Lots of trash talking on Twitter between the fans of Rangers & Celtic about Gutman being "stolen" from the other: 1083730270065438720 is not a valid tweet id
Multiple sources have told me that Gutman had an offer for Rangers. Celtic made a better offer. But I will tell you this.. I report on a lot of players but when it comes to me mentioning the possibility of players joining Celtic or Rangers, the comments to my articles (and even my DM box) from supporters something that never happens to me with any other teams. The DM's are wild from fans who claim they are "desperate" for information. It doesn't happen with any other teams
Celtic and Rangers fans.......mental, desperate, and obsessive??? No way. Don't believe it for second. [as I frantically scroll through my 2000+ Celtic related followings on Twitter AND my 1500 Rangers followings because I have to know what the enemy is doing]
American Andrew Gutman made his second appearance as a trialist for a Celtic 11 in a friendly vs Arbroath.Visa process is taking longer than everyone anticipated.— Johnny Mac 🏴🇺🇲⚽ (@johnmcp66) January 20, 2019
I have been thru this with a Yank or two before. It's not taking longer than most of us who have followed these things for a while expected.
Disappeared from Celtic? https://www.footballfancast.com/sco...ics-american-trialist-andrew-gutman-goes-awol The 22-year-old American played as a trialist against St Mirren and Arbroath, and was expected in training last week, but hasn’t been seen since the 4-3 defeat to the latter club. After that match, which Celtic lost 4-3, he hasn’t been seen at the club’s Lennoxtown Training Centre. It now seems highly unlikely that Celtic will continue their interest in the 22-year-old with Daniel Church and Calvin Miller available for the reserves, while Emilio Izaguirre and Jonny Hayes deputise for Kieran Tierney.
The situation with the young American associated with the Old Firm clubs this transfer window has been kind of bizarre. You had Polster, Gutman and Perez all seemingly "sure things" to sign with Rangers/Celtic mid-month and yet that's gone kind of dark and the end of the window is approaching.
As far as I know (as of just a few hours ago), both Gutman and Perez are still in Celtic's plans. Both might go on loan until the summer, at least.
My guess is that they’ll at announce once they figure out what they’re plans are for them for the next few months
Every single one of them is officially signed now. http://www.celticfc.net/news/15699 Gutman and Perez will be loaned back to a club in the US.
And the Rangers fans are going to be pretty nasty: Failed Rangers Trialist 🤣🤣 https://t.co/wwnYYY7mwO— ❤️⚪️💙 (@AJLM1872) January 31, 2019
He will be in good hands in Nashville under Gary Smith. Solid manager. They play a direct and very attack oriented style. It suits Gutman well who likes to get up and down the pitch. Nashville added Cameron Lancaster (26 goals - MLS contact), Daniel Rios (20 goals - MLS contract), and Kharlton Belmar (15 goals) from Lou City, NCFC, and Swope Park respectively. Loads of offensive power. Gutman stands a very good chance of walking into the lineup. It will be a fun team to watch and Gutman will have his chances to swing balls into those three. I think Nashville will be title favorites. A season under his belt with Nashville will serve him well upon his return to Celtic.
Yeah, I don't think it's a good move for Gutman and Perez to spend their first season in USL, even if they got good money offers. USL is not a good league, not known for developing good players (aside from a few one-offs). I don't think they will improve that much. Would have been better for either to sign with an MLS team and hope to get some playing time there, and then move to Europe in a few years. Or at least sign for a European team that will keep you around. I don't see the allure of signing for Celtic, only to end up in USL.
