Here was the "assist" from Carleton for the only goal of the first half. Similar to the "assist" from the match against DC. Probably won't count as an assist, but the goal came from his delivery. 🚨GOAL! 🚨 @Liam_Fraser27 puts the MLS Homegrowns in front! // #MLSHomegrown Game by @Energizer https://t.co/asDROaAKtw— Major League Soccer (@MLS) August 1, 2018

Carleton told Extra Time Radio that he has a tattoo on his chest of the date he signed for Atlanta. Make of that what you will.
First professional contract as a 16 year-old. Pretty big moment. I don't think it means he's going to languish in ATL any longer than he has to if he keeps not getting time on the field.
0. It sounded like Barco will be available to return the next match. Even if its just to the bench, that'll likely be enough to effect Carleton. Carleton seemingly is barely even making the bench, given there were three attacking players on the bench today, two of which played. Neither of those players was Carleton. In fact, if the only change between now and the next match to the team is Barco returns to the bench, Carleton probably won't make the bench. Atlanta has a very comfortable schedule the rest of the season. They only play 10 games in the last 11 weeks the season. Unless they clinch first place early and have nothing to play for, I think its unlikely Carleton will play anymore this season.
Weah and Sargent are going to get waaaay more first team minutes. Hell, Weah's 90 cup minutes already equal Carleton's one cup appearance. More guys are just going to bypass MLS. ATL are making their bed.
Reading ATL's subreddit it seems the fans are starting to see 2 things: 1. Miggy is in poor form and seemingly forgot how to score 2. Tata subs suck specifically Romario Both of these could be avoided imo if he played Carleton more. I think Almiron has some mental fatigue and is playing a bit on instinct and not how he was earlier in the season. And obviously we know they have no good attacking subs outside of carleton.
I know, U23's. I'm making what I'd consider to be a pretty safe bet. Carleton's had 1.5 seasons to accumulate more than 90 career MLS minutes. Werder knows talent when they see it.
As an Atlanta fan, I concur. Tata is a good couch but he absolutely refuses to change his XI unless he absolutely has to. Atlanta should catch a break with the bye, but that’s even more reason to believe that Carleton is nowhere in Tata’s plans. Add too Vasquez and Robinson.
I think this would definitely change things for Carleton, but they have no game this weekend or mid-week game so it’s basically a week off for Almiron to potentially get his head back on straight.
Carleton's on the bench today. Seems like he beat out Vazquez for a spot on the bench today. Barco is also on the bench, and we know Martino prefers Barco to Carleton at every position he'll use Carleton, so its unlikely Carleton will enter the match.
Didn't play. All three AM's mids were subbed out, yet the coach decided to bring on Barco, Kratz and Robinson for those players, not Carleton.
I doubt Carleton gets anymore time this season at this point. He has guys slowly coming back from injury that will instantly leap from him into the 18.
Here are the YNT-eligible US players who are on an MLS roster haven't played in a league game this year. Hopefully San Jose, Colorado and Orlando realize hope is lost for this season and start playing some of these kids soon. The rest probably don't have much of a shot given their teams are all in either a playoff race of a the Shield race. (Though I can see Bradley giving Perez a but of run.) Tangentially related, how many of these kids do we think will finish with more minutes than Carleton? Can't be a bad thing, although getting him playing time does more than complimenting him to the press. Lots of coaches compliment young players in the press and then don't play them. Pochettino might be the best I've seen at this. Sells a bill of goods. Did so plenty of times about CCV. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/aug/24/tata-martino-atlanta-united-mls-argentina-barcelona
I mean Pochettino and Martino were teammates for a hot second at Newell's and are both considered "disciples" of Bielsa... I'm just kidding. You are right, but Martino has never talked up Carleton a lot. I feel like his answers are always "wait and see" or "he's too young" or "maybe he will start". This quote is pretty straightforward. But it's the hope that kills you
