Weston, where Andre played, has to be one of the best youth clubs in the Country. Will be really interesting to see how Becks Miami team handles that pipeline of serious talent.

He and his parents are naturalized citizens. Andre has lived most of his (short, obviously) life in the U.S.

Here he is scoring for a Spanish select team about a year ago:

Also a very nice assist for the same team here:

I'm told he's a natural lefty who played RM for that team but generally plays centrally for Real Madrid.

My bad -- thought the video was time-stamped. The assist (a driven left-footed cross from the right wing) starts around 3:46.

I am guessing he has the Spain nationality too? And his father prefers Brazil but they will wait to see if he gets called up by Brazil or Spain (?) and the US (as a last resort).

Bigsoccer does better scouting than USSF.

My understanding is that he's on his way to being naturalized for Spain, but not yet based on residency time. Ultimately it will come down between the three I'd imagine, which sort of sucks. Either he's not a player of the caliber that could play with Spain and Brazil and goes with us, or he's good enough to make a big difference to the US team and ends up playing with Spain or Brazil (Gio Rossi style).

Yeah, that is what I think too. If he is really good enough to play for Brazil or Spain, no way he is choosing us. After all, his parents are Brazilians, he was born in Brazil and only has US Citizenship because they were able to Naturalized. Here is hoping he is good enough for us but not so good for Brazil or Spain.

I also think it likely that Costa's father would tell UOL, the largest portal in Brazil, that his son prefers Brazil, whether it were strictly true or not.
