Didn’t Sporting did well in last seasons copa del Rey tourney? They lost to the champs in the round of 16 or something like that?

    LOL,

the other day I was going down the rabbit hole of watching you tube videos and one of them was from a few weeks ago. This sports show had Piojo on talking about Alvarez potential move to Ajax. Basically said they guy was ready for Europe and was "good to go", then he was asked about Lainez and basically said he was NOT ready for Europe, and especially going to a team like Betis.

At first Piojo seems kind of selfish but maybe, just maybe he was right about Lainez.

LOL at the people mocking Guardado responsibility in this. There is NO WAY Lainez and his family even consider Real Betis if Guardado doesn't sell that shit hard. At the end of the day it was Diego and his family's decision sure but the only reason he had another option to begin with was Guardado. Would be at Ajax right now if Guardado didn't get involved period.

He's young and so I still think it will work out but he definitely facked up his development because Real Betis doesn't produce shit. They only poach Farsa and Madriz failures.

    Agreed broder.

Wilas players just aren’t the brightest of the bunch and there’s countless examples that prove it.

At the end of the day it was Lainez’ decision. That’s all that matters. Laying it on guardado is another bsmx cop-out excuse for a player not producing abroad. But he’s young and perhaps he actually earns playing time and develops. Or maybe he’s just not that good.

At least they have been letting their young studs go to Europe... albeit with mixed results...

All those stories about Vergara getting mad for not charging more for Chicharito once it became apparent that he was becoming successful in Europe are off-putting. Nevermind the fact that he would never have come close to reaching the same level had he stayed at Chivas...

That Edson Alvarez and Diego Lainez are now in Europe is testament to the attitude and vision Club America has for its players... As much as I give Piojo shit for being a naco (he is), he's been letting these duses go at fair prices...

I say this as someone who dislikes Wilas every bit as much as I dislike Chivas but at least one is doing some things right...

Calmado mi buen...tampoco es para tanto. Chivas was doing this years ago while wilas weren't letting Memo go.

Plenty of examples of MX teams letting their players go years before the wilas began to produce decent young talent and send abroad.

They're currently living un buen momento y nada mas.

Lettuce be real, they aren't the first and won't be the last MX organization to send players abroad.

Chivas will not export anyone in the near future unless they are really green and they dont want to develop them... Doesn't Leon have any option to buy JJ Macias? If so, they will end up selling him to a European club...

The problem with lainez isn't the team he went to, although the Dutch or Portuguese league would have been better imo. I think the mistake was leaving too early. He had one good year and then left. He should have stayed at least another year to get experience and consolidate himself. Just look at chucky and edson, they have plenty of experience and are ready to hit the ground running as soon as they made the jump.

I know that we were all excited for him to leave to Europe ASAP, but I hope the same doesn't happen with Macias. I hope he stays at least one more year to get more experience and prove himself consistent

Not necessarily. A big part of the problem with Lainez was the team he went to. Apart from top-notch instruction, Ajax are a stable club compared to Betis. Even when managers leave, the club maintains the same philosophy and trajectory and there is far less disruption. There is a lot less continuity in La Liga and when a new manager comes in, they always seem to want to shake things up.

What you say about Chucky or Edson could be true. You could be right because Pachuca and America have afforded talented young players the opportunity to grow but we won't ever know. I still think Lainez will come good but he has a bigger mountain to climb now...

    Currently losing 1-0 to Getafe.

Lainez on the bench today. Guardado didn’t make the team for this one. Everyone quick spazz out because guardado didn’t make the bench today

Exciting 0-0 draw for Betis today against the mighty Osasuna. Diego was an unused sub. Coach Rubi is a genius and Betis are going places. Might get 17th place just above relegation zone. WOW!, what a great accomplish for such a historic club!!!
