Yea sorry I meant “huh” like... “Huh. That was a surprising, inventive, badass move at lightening pace by an 18-year-old American against a current Danish international.”

Though he was not being paid as such (pocket money up to DKK 36,000 = $5,731 a year is allowed for amateur players by the Danish FA), his stay in Denmark and a 4 month trip to the Academy in Ghana obviously has not been cheap for FCN ... so it's not like it has been a free ride for FCN ... they have spend time and money trying to maker him ready to play for FCN in the Superliga .

.. which bring me to my second point ... if he had signed with a team from the top 4-leagues at the age of 18, their academies are no better that that of FCN, as you can see in the videos in one of my post above, and it's obviously also better for his further development to almost instantly become a regular starter for FCN in the Superliga than being stuck for several year as a youth and reserve team player in England or Spain ...

It seems to have worked out well for him, but it makes me wonder if there are lots of other players (probably kids from Africa) who are being stashed like this and lose out on a big payday as a result.

A perfect example for me is Matt Olosunde, I think he is a very good RB, yet, he still hasn't been able to get 1st team playing time for Manchester United. If he would have gone to a lesser league/team he would be playing regularly.

The Danish NT is highly attacking minded and Ankersen is known to be quite quick on his feet and a fast attacking minded right back, which is why it's mentioned in the Danish media that Amon's speed made him "dizzy" ... ..

I think hes saying he is worrying about his club play at the moment, and the rest can come later.

No talent would be stashed away, if they did not belive they would become an important player for the club and a big sales object ... or in other words, the big payday will come, if they keep developing and showing their worth ...

Well, the point was about players under 18 who aren't eligible to be registered with the club. You aren't likely to promote the merchandise you don't own the rights to.

It shouldn't be. Dude barely likes to talk about himself at all.

Not even the things he's actually done or the abilities he currently has.

And it comes off as genuine.

I'm not surprised he's not into talking about a hypothetical future for himself with the USMNT or moving on to bigger clubs.

Im starting to buy into the idea that Hugo Perez was a phenomenal scout or excellent teacher. Didn’t realize he was involved here.

I think he'd be the first to down play any credit he received for teaching the game at the USYNT level but his eye for talent and his abilities to foster good feelings and relate to young people from every background are sorely missed.

I caught that too. Like he is not sure and leaving the door open for other options.

Yeah. If Nigerians can clamor for a 15 year old kid at Feyenoord, just wait till they hear about this guy.

at each of Amon's games, the camera pans to a group of African fans that seem to follow him

It didn't really read that way to me. Sounded like a guy who wasn't ready to even think about being good enough for the USMNT.

That modest? and on the playing field, he is a terror?

I hope you are right, we (USA) can surely use him.

    Read his other interview.

Note the difference between the way he speaks about himself and the way he speaks about others.

Particularly his awareness and appreciation for the way others treat him.
