Rafinha isn't ready either and isn't he more of an AM than CM and he probably needs to leave Barca.
I see him as a Iniesta type. He could be an Offensive CMF IMO, he has good workrate and is not that bad at tackling. We already have two defensive SBs that rarely attack, we don't need to be so defensive in the midfield.
We basically have to hope Lucas Silva pans out. He's the only CM that has the sort of ball skills and passing that we desire. I think Elias looked a bit timid out there and deserves another chance. I would feel much more confident in getting more out of him if Tite were our coach.
Danilo has been a significant upgrade to Alves. I think I can breathe a bit easier now that we won't see Alves starting another game for us.
Danilo has been solid. I would like him to show more offensively. He solid defensively though.
There is another possibility: Danilo can also play as CMF, he played a lot of games as a CMF while he was at Santos... But then again , he's been so great at RB...
There is Allan from Udinese who can possible fill that role or we convert someone into a CM like CAP did with Ze Roberto.
It just hit me that Lucas Leiva would be great considering he doesn't seem to lose the ball cheaply at all.
The good thing about Lucas Lima is he actually drops really deep and helps create. This would be nice to help out out volantes. I think Lucas Lima is the real deal and that he even improved over his form last year but idk if dominating the paulista warrants a call.
It is a friendly. Why wouldn't he test guys ?
So is everyone more comfortable with Jefferson? I used to be on the fence about him like most people here but his performances early in this season with botafogo are what made me trust him. I feel like he has drastically improved his gking in traffic/crosses.
Typically you try a couple of players from the start, not 6. Tough to make conclusions that way because of chemistry. Typically you sub in players early in the 2nd half.
I agree. He seems to be fitting seamlessly into Barça's 1st team in a number of roles, his best I think is exactly in the Iniesta role, but he's talented and versatile enough that he can play on the wing and deeper than the Iniesta role, much like Iniesta did earlier in his career. He's still developing which is good.
It's a miracle that we managed to keep him instead of going to Torino, or Porto.
I don't mind him for the short term now with Neto and Diego Alves as the backup. He hasn't looked as shaky and uncertain these last 2 games.
Depends how you approach it . Him being a former player means he doesn't want to waste someone's time. I don't really see a reason to take chile seriously after playing against Frances first string for 70 minutes. We already know dunga can beat chiles ass tactically if he really wants to.
Seconded. I've heard people criticizing his lack of offensive impact so far but that's down to Dunga's pragmatism than his lack of offensive skills. Give me a defender first over whatever Alves has been doing all these years.
Lucas Silva is a solid player but I don't think he's anything special based on his Madrid performances so far. Maybe he needs more time.
But yeah, I think the introduction of Firmino has been a brilliant addition by Dunga. He's not Adriano, Ronaldo, Romario etc but he could be a great player for us like Luis Fabiano was. Fast unlike Fred, skillful, scores & assists. He also works very hard which is necessary considering how little effort Neymar puts in defensively.
Still upset Felipe Anderson hasn't been given a chance. Hope both he and Lucas get chances against Mexico & Honduras before Copa begins. They are excellent dribblers and would lessen the reliance on Neymar to be the ball carrier in the team.
I would be shocked if Dunga called Felipe Anderson or Lucas Moura to the Copa America.
Dunga already said he isn't calling anyone he hasn't tested up.
I also kind of dislike Dunga changing half the team today. As it just seemed like to much of a change and we looked bad. A part of me feels like he did this on purpose to show that "see no one on the B team is good enough to start" type thing.
Souza isn't NT level at all and was a waste of a call.
Robinho is the same.
Fernandinho's fouling is too much but if he doesn't do it at City, Dunga must have instructed him to do it.
Douglas Costa needs to move to a better team and perform there before we can make a conclusion about him making the NT.
Luiz Adriano sucks and shouldn't be on the team. A tiny bit more mobile than Fred.
Marcelo can't start as LB for us. At least in the way Dunga wants.
Miranda had another poor game.
Firmino solidified his spot in the starting lineup with his goal.
I wouldn't be!! People were shocked when he blasted Neymar, buy made him captain, people were shocked when he blasted Marcelo, but brought him back!!
Dunga needs to get into Neymar ear and tell him to pass the ball. There is very little combination play just a bunch of solo runs that ends up get dispossess.
Not a very good showing at all. Defense Miranda looked very shaky first half.
Nice goal by a big surprise thus far, Firmino - I have to admit I never even heard of this guy (I don't follow Bundesliga much).
Very little pass connection tablelas, lot's of long fuking balls. We were defending Chile's consistent attacking style. Goal came when Chile was better, so we lucked out there. Not that excited about today.
I'm not too worried about Danilo's offensive qualities. I've seen them at Santos, where he was criticized for his defense. If he has shown this much improvement, combined with his offensive game, we should be in good hands. Could you imagine if Dunga played Alves and asked him to stay back? With all the fouling the team was doing, he would be up there in fouls. Heck, he leads the UCL in yellow cards. Needless to say, I'm relieved that Danilo has taken command of the spot.
Lucas Silva is probably going to take the rest of the season to get settled in. He has looked timid and nervous from what I've seen. He never was like that for Cruzeiro. I think we will see him improve next season. It's way too early to write him off. Felipe Anderson was already looked at as a flop last season. It takes time.
Dunga is gushing about Firmino, so it looks like he's possibly made himself the starter. Dunga mentioned trying to sign him when he was the coach at Internacional. He went on to compliment his skill set.
As someone said earlier, we won't see any new faces till after Copa America. Dunga will only call players who have played for him thus far.
I've been so impressed with his tactical awareness and application. And he has demonstrated good technical skills, ball skills and vision. Like you said, I would like to see him taking command in the Brasileirão. I'd feel much more comfortable with him succeeding on the Seleção if he can do that.
Miranda's performance should be a friendly reminder that you shouldn't discredit David Luiz. Miranda is capable of making blunders. As @nicephoras said a while ago, that Atletico defensive system has been playing together for a while now. That's part of some of the success he has had there. It's a different on the Seleção. Marquinhos is a very good young defender, but he's not the answer yet either if you are hoping for limited errors. Young defender make a handful of mistakes, including the good ones. TS and Luiz should be the pairing until proven otherwise. We still have 3 years to go. Things can change.
