Jay actually said he will have a competition. He didn't mention anything about Haskins sitting and learning. He said if we pick you at 15, you will have a chance to compete.
starting to feel bad for daniel jones. He is getting more shiit than trubisky got. Not like he made the pick for gentleman. why wouldn't gentleman wait till 17? as long as haskins was out there he'd have smoke screen.
He got psyched out. He was afraid of the heat he'd take if he missed out on the QB he wanted and he didn't want Haskins. Maybe he believed Jones would go the Skins. The Skins definitely worked the smokescreen with the whole Synder wants Haskins and trading up and the coaching staff wants Jones.I actually curious what kind of input Shurmur had, if any, in the whole process.
It's really dumb and unfair to compare players to HOF talents. I personally see Hockenson as more of a Kyle Rudolph than a Rob Gronkowski.
How I imagined the Lions draft room: QUINN/PATRICIA: Hey you, scout, we need a TE who does what Gronk does. SCOUT: Well sir, there's no one that does what Gronk does in this draft. There's this kid Hockenson who can block, catch, and has some athletic ability but he's not nearly as dominant- QUINN/PATRICIA: DRAFT HIM! SCOUT: But sir, there are better players on the board. What about a guy like Ed Ol- QUINN/PATRICIA: Nope, we want this guy. QUINN/PATRICIA: We need a big LB like Hightower who can blitz off the edge and play off-ball. SCOUT: Um sir, there's better players like Greedy- QUINN/PATRICIA: GREEDY'S NOT A BIG LINEBACKER, SCOUT! ARE YOU STUPID?! SCOUT: *sighs* We got this kid from Hawaii who's kind of big and strong, and he rushed off the edge a bit and played off ball. He's sort of like Hightower, I guess, but he's slow and injury-prone and we've got like a 5th round grade- QUINN/PATRICIA: DRAFT HIM IN THE SECOND! Look at us, so smart, so Patriots-esque. SCOUT: *rolls his eyes* I liked the Amani and Bryant picks. Everything else was chasing archetypes. They completely ignored value, ignored more talented players, and ignored positions of need so they could get players that fit these tiny, narrow archetypes. They want to be Diet Patriots SO bad, but you know what makes the Patriots the Patriots?! ADAPTABILITY! Belichick is constantly adapting, constantly rethinking, constantly reinventing his teams. There is no freaking guidebook on "HOW TO PATRIOT" with a checklist of things like "have a dominant two way TE". If there was, someone else would've replicated it. The Patriots have had exactly two constants through their success; Belichick and Brady. Their genius makes this work. But Quinn, Patricia, and every other ex-Patriot failure all have this conceit that they can do what Belichick does, and they really can't.
This dude Bruce is now coming out of hiding after taking credit for a rare, good draft and hitting First Take with all of his politician type answers. Bruce managed to dodge the media for more than a year between 2017-18. Now he is all of a sudden sitting down with First Take? Coincidence? I think not...
I actually really dig the Redskins roster this year. No WRs worth much but man, it's solid in a lot of interesting places.
If we had a legit WR1, I'd feel comfortable with the rest of the WR corps. I'd be surprised if McLaurin and Harmon become #1s. The other glaring need is another safety. We have Montae Nicholson, who was poor last year and his status up in the air with an arrest, and a 4th round rookie from last year in Troy Apke, who mainly played special teams and got hurt midway through the year. We are going to have to hope that a veteran FS gets cut in training camp or after the preseason to be that stop gap.
I like him and he has potential, but chances are he won't become a #1. Sounds like Giff is pretty high on him lol.
Would @Emperor Adriano, giff and @MatthausSammer be interested in joining a college football fantasy league? I actually did one last year since Yahoo offered it for the first time and it helped me keep tabs on players and watch specific players that I may have not normally done. I guess the downside of it is it's all based on stats and college statistics are even more misleading than they are in the pros. Stats play an even smaller part of the evaluation process of how good a player will transition to the pros. Either way, it's kinda fun to participate in one and gave me a head start in identifying guys for the draft.
is it like a by conference thing with a draft or a free market thing with a salary cap like cartola?? i'll be down either way. need to watch more college football regardless.
It’s the entire NCAA. So you can find sneaky players in weaker conferences that put up good numbers. Rules and scoring is just like traditional fantasy football. Let me know if giff wants in.
Unfortunately I've got my hands full in terms of sports to watch so I'll pass but thanks for the invite.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-rankings-projected-wins-playoff-chances-1-32 Putting us below Tampa and Detroit is flat out disrespectful.
My issue is titans and texans rankings. How are they even different than the redskins at this point? Especially the titans. Even raiders and broncos is pure disrespect at this point
