1st reason #Redskins lost: Turned ball over 4 times. 2nd reason they lost: WSH averaged 2.6 per run. 3rd reason: Allowed 8/14 on 3rd down.— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 10, 2017 I wonder if Terrelle Pryor will yell at reporters for asking him about that drop?— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 10, 2017 Cousins sent Brian Quick to other side, pre-snap decision to go hot to Pryor. First down.— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 10, 2017 Love seeing the #Redskins go tempo here. Kirk Cousins is at his best when he's operating quickly. Like a pitcher in rhythm.— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 10, 2017 Kirk Cousins is critiqued for not running enough. Used legs more than usual today. Rushed for career-best 30 yds on 4 scrambles. #Redskins— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 11, 2017
Pederson made some odd playcalls during the game for sure. Why are you throwing a backward pass to Nelson Agholar? He isn't shifty or a burner. Sure, Wentz could have made a better throw, but the playcall was horrendous.
Talent is an issue with them, but I think some of the disparity has to do with the fact that the Colts probably have had the worst backup QB in the league for many years now. The team isn't as bad as we saw them on Sunday, but Luck certainly elevates their level of play on offense. They didn't have Ryan Kelly, their best OL and the rest of their OL is straight trash.
Yes, he was impressive. Created quite a bit of pressure inside. Wentz was on the move most of the day. Granted, Jason Peters got hurt, but we had pressure up the middle and occasionally through Lane Johnson, but Wentz had some Romo-esque manuevers in and outside the pocket. He probably made his best throws in those scenarios, to be honest. I see the Eagles oline still being an issue, even with those two tackles (when Peters is healthy). They also didn't get any push in the run game.
EVERY great QB makes terrible throws & has bad games. But Cousins hasn't built up enuf equity w/ fans yet to withstand his. Prob never will.— OG EB Eric Bickel (@EBJunkies) September 11, 2017
I kinda love Tony Romo tipping off plays before they happen for the viewer at home https://t.co/giYPIIa8B4 pic.twitter.com/ERIr9E9rJ4— Eric Nathan (@BarstoolNate) September 11, 2017 Didn't watch this game, but I have it on the docket.
I like to subject QBs every now and then to something I call the "Dalton test". Basically the idea is that Dalton is pretty much the epitome of an average NFL starting QB, and if you're worse than him, you're not a guy a franchise can rely upon moving forward. If you're better than Dalton, you can secure your starting spot and your franchise shouldn't be actively trying to replace you. Bradford passes the Dalton test.
I finally get the first pick in the 16 teamer and chose David Johnson and he's out for 2-3 months. My injury luck in fantasy is unreal.
I heard a flaming hot take on this FB group I'm a part of that Frank Gore was a better all-around RB than AP over the course of his career. Pass blocking, receiving, running out of shotgun, ball security, longevity, etc. @Harambe Alvinegro is there truth to that do you think?
I have Johnson in one of my leagues too but I think I'm okay anyways. The 12 team was rough for me. Hill balled but the rest underperformed.
I don't think so. I've never seen Gore win an nfl game by himself let alone force a team into the playoffs on his back. Adrian Peterson should be remembered for getting Ponder and Tjack to the playoffs which wasn't easy. And Gore is really overrated from a receiving perspective. It's easy to hate on Peterson now but the game was different just 4, 5 years ago for running backs. I was never a huge frank gore guy anyways. His best year was under an o-line far far better than any Peterson ran behind.
it's a little bit like saying fred taylor or corey dillon or even bettis was better than barry sanders
Fair enough, just thought I'd ask. I was a little skeptical too, but it was somewhat interesting to consider.
I don't think so either. Those are the only two knocks on AP and most of the time, it had to do with the type of offense that was run.
The comedic timing of @Harambe Alvinegro's hemming and hawing in the spread video over Detroit vs New York was absolute gold lol... "Can't believe I'm going to do this... I think I'm going to do this..." I'm thinking Come on, don't do it. Don't put your credibility on the line for the freaking Lions. They're bound to disappoint. "No I'm not, New York to win, Detroit to cover". It was a great little moment.
I had them circled for sure and the Giants don't even play all that good at home. Me being wrong about the 49ers covering and chargers winning def made me more conservative. And if you looked at that play that injured David Johnson I got pretty excited because that's what I've been asking for from detroits defense. More physicality and besides controlling turnovers the best way to win games is knocking players out of games/intimidation. I'm really looking forward to the game but having to hear about obj for 4 hours whether he plays or not is a little much. You think the lions will win ??? Did you have them beating zona ?
Big one that Eagles got away with. Zero blitz. Great recovery by Mills for PBU. But look up top. Total bust. WAS kicked FG on this drive. pic.twitter.com/pfpEqdB72N— Sheil Kapadia (@SheilKapadia) September 12, 2017 Much of Cousins' poor play was down to accuracy & ball placement issues. Only real terrible decision was throwing this hook late vs zone pic.twitter.com/38fdc4xBHv— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 13, 2017 Disagree with the analysis. The ball on the INT was bad decision and there were a couple of other plays as well. But look at the ball that Kirk tries to force through a tight window, but doesn't have above average arm strength to do it. Not sure who he thought he was trying that throw.
First play of that drive was a warning for Cousins. 1st read wasn't open, panicked and threw off back foot into traffic. pic.twitter.com/fAcS4FCTHi— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 10, 2017 Ended the drive doing similar thing. This time pressure is coming, but he feels it too early. back foot, overthrows Crowder, INT. pic.twitter.com/HbPWt1OSod— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 10, 2017 Kirk actually said he was looking at Pryor on this play. Crowder would have been the right decision. Kirk Cousins struggled badly with accuracy & ball placement throughout. 3rd play of the game, simply out, ball sailed over Ryan Grant's head pic.twitter.com/KWm9Dj6FoT— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 11, 2017 Next drive, Crowder running up seam, Cousins' throw too high for him pic.twitter.com/I1uph9dJ0z— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 11, 2017 Here, Cousins gets cement feet, doesn't really drive into throw. Ball dies on him, doesn't reach Reed, who would have taken a huge hit. pic.twitter.com/MGx56wEjUl— Mark Bullock (@MarkBullockNFL) September 11, 2017 https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/status/907041495227813888 https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/status/907041783284158466 https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/status/907042041510731776 https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/status/907042821466677255 https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/status/907043121997008896 https://twitter.com/MarkBullockNFL/status/907043744918241280 Not a surprise that if Kirk feels the slightest of pressure, this is what results from it. Not sure why more teams don't blitz Kirk. What's funny is the media gave him credit for not being sacked last year and now vs the Iggles, want to blame the o-line. Kirk is only good in the quick timing passing game or when he gets all day to survey the field. Sure, no QB likes pressure in their face, but he's more adversely affected by it than the top 15 QBs in the league. He's mentally weak -- can't shake any adversity.
People aren't going to get off the Kirk train. They are dug in, cognitive dissonance. I gave up talking about him on the podcast.
Yep, I've yet to see anyone in the pro-Kirk camp change their opinion on him. Not only do they not see him for what he is, they try to sell other people on the idea that he's a very good (top 10) QB in this league and there are NO arguments otherwise.
Surprised this guy hasn't been blocked by the Grant Paulsen crew. Funny how they make remarks about other QBs in the league but Kirk is perfection. bradford w/same talent is BETTER than cousins— troy lewis (@troylew29281611) September 12, 2017
http://larrybrownsports.com/football/fred-smoot-rips-kirk-cousins-fourth-quarter-stat-hound/394705 Sad when you have to go to Fred Smoot to get rational analysis. Kirk Cousins’s accuracy issues should be Washington’s biggest worry after Week 1 Except for Grant, it isn't. Lol. Except for the games where there were things on the line and he played well. And against good defenses where he played well.— Grant Paulsen (@granthpaulsen) September 13, 2017
