I was skimming wiki (yes I know it's wiki...) and found this kid who was listed as American and I had never heard of him before. Not sure if it is outdated but wiki still has him listed for Wolfsburgs 2nd team.
It looks like this guy played one game as a guest player for Chivas USA reserves back in September of 2013. Obviously it didn't work out, but....just wanted to commit this insignificant detail to the Yanks Abroad archives.
Has played 18 out of 20 this season, 17 full 90s, 6 shutouts: http://www.transfermarkt.com/amro-tarek-abdel-aziz/leistungsdaten/spieler/158997

Amro Tarek has joined Real Betis in Spain's La Liga. http://www.realbetisbalompie.es/en/...-tarek-tercer-fichaje-del-real-betis-balompie
A four year deal with a La Liga club? Didn't see that coming for a guy who was a scrub at the Regionalliga level several years ago. Looks like he was a pretty regular starter in Egypt over the last two seasons. I'd say this guy has acquired "International Man of Mystery" status.
Wow! Good for him going to Egypt & bouncing back like this! Speaks well of his commitment. Seems likeable from the interview, too. I wonder if Bob ever tracked him there. Too bad he's a year too old for the Olympics, but if he can get on the field with Van Der Vaart regularly, he'll hear from Klinsi. But I'd bet Egypt will call first.
American Pharaoh in Spain: Amro Tarek Abdel-Aziz at Real Betis? @bungadiri But open to other suggestions... Only Yank in La Liga?
Transfer market says Left back...we don't need any of those. Also says he played one time for Egypt U20's
Here’s a video of some of his best tackles from when he was in the Egyptian Premier League (you might want to mute it if you're not into the music): Granted, the forwards/wingers in this video aren’t as good as the ones he’ll be facing in La Liga, but his tackles are fairly impressive nonetheless. Now the question is if he’ll be able to adapt to the play in Spain, get minutes, and perform well. There are a few other videos of him on YouTube in case you guys want to get a better idea of other aspects of his game. If he can prove his worth in La Liga, Jürgen and the USSF should definitely look into whether he’d be interested in repping the USA, especially considering how he can play center back, left back, and possibly even left wing.
Egyptian refs must be worse than MLS, or the follow up yellow card/penalties are edited out, but some scout must have seen something he liked. I doubt he would rep the US, imagine Egypt will be his first choice, but again who knows
Looks like good defense to me. Quick to the ball, solid technique, and can recover quickly to dribble out of danger. Alot of those probably would've been yellow and red-eligible in MLS, but you have to admit that there is some awfully soft officiating in this league. La Liga is about on par with the rest of Europe, they are better able to recognize a solid challenge from a dangerous one.
So any eligibility experts out there, say he comes out of nowhere to be on the US radar, does he have to do a one time switch? Someone mentioned he played previously for the Egypt U-20s? Not saying its likely but just curious...
http://www.kingfut.com/2013/01/14/video-amro-tarek-a-pharaoh-among-wolves/ This link said the US watched him/scouted him so you never know. It's not like he's playing in the German 3rd division so we don't know if anyone's watching.
