    Sort of Alumni News

    Ex-coach Ruud Gullit has just come out with a book, "How to Watch Soccer." Book got a pretty positive review in today's (Mar. 11) Wall Street Journal. Review contains some interesting comments about MLS too. The book apparently is part memoir and part technical, including comparison of various formations and the pros and cons of each.

    Thanks for the tip. I really enjoyed one comment in the review:

    Mr. Gullit jumps, with pages of diagrams at his side, into the mystery of tactical formations and patterns of play. It is like listening to a Los Angeles native talk about freeway routes.

    Travel today 101 to 150 to 33 to 101 to 118 to 5 to home. <G> Almost detoured to 710 to 405 but gutted it out on the 5 instead.

    I live very close to Avalon and the 405 but taking Avalon has too many lights and I'd have to drive past the stadium since I park just off the 91 and Avalon and walk. Once I'm on the freeway, there are no stops until I park.

    How about the 118 to the 170 to the 101 to the 110 to the 91, back when I lived in Simi Valley :). Now I just go 90 to 405, so I really wimped out and you could be the current champ.

    Haven't read it, but WSJ book reviews are *uneven* at best. Buyer beware...
