Without seeing the match, I'd wager that one team clearly wanted to win the game and took it to the other team, which probably cared more about looking good as individuals in order to maintain or increase their playing time.

 

While I can't speak for the FA Cup, some of the Copa del Rey and the Coppa Italia matches that I've seen certainly lend credence to your argument.

... exactly But in the context of this board, it would probably be better if Villarreal weren't eliminated from the Copa del Rey this early so as to give Altidore some playing time that wouldn't interfere with the possibility of going out on loan in January.

So does anyone actually know how well Jozy played? Was he fantastic, but just couldn't put it in the back of the net? Was he an atrocity? Did he have a lack of service? What the deal?
