The last game in which he played a lot of minutes he also "almost made an immediate impact" within the first few minutes, with a close shot. Kid has spunk.

I doubt Mexico will ignore a 19 yr old player who is getting first team minutes with Monterrey

He's good enough to play for Mexico's u20s.. Wouldn't be surprised to see Almaguer give him a look. Which would suck for the US since he said he'd play with whoever called him up first. Ramos best have his # on speed dial and hit em up for the Toulon tourney.

^^ Most of the guys he's competing with for a spot in Mexico's U-20 play in his same club and are getting more minutes than him...

Alonso only got 72 minutes this season, his direct competition in the U20 national team would be:
    Corona (monterrey) - 382 min
    Madrigal (monterrey) - 242 min
Carlos Fierro (chivas) - 140 min
Erick Torres (chivas) - 142 min
Marco Bueno (pachuca) - 153 min
Rodolfo Pizarro (pachuca) - 209 min
Alberto Garcia (atlante) - 357 min
Mario Cardenas (santos) - 408 min

and this are just the forwards that have some minutes in the first division, you also could add the two U20 league top scorers
    Roberto Ramirez (pumas) - 17 goals - 83 ratio
    Martin Zuñiga (america) - 15 goals - 83 ratio
meanwhile Alonso has a ratio of 126 and only 7 goals in the U20 league

He was called up to the U20 tourney in Toulon. Looks like the USSF did their due diligence behind our backs.

    I liked this quote:

“I always wanted to play for the US national ever since I was little,” Hernandez said. “In the 2002 World Cup, I was cheering for the U.S. team against Mexico. I even had a poster then of the U.S. team with all their players.”

Alonso played the last 15 minutes for Monterrey as they clawed out a 1-1 draw vs. Puebla thanks to a 94th minute strike from Dorlan Pabon.
