Thank you for keeping track of all this. Great info! I'd bet your stats are light years ahead of anything the club has been tracking.
I was thinking during the DCU match that our best 11 all time is on the roster right now. Well best 10 anyway ( Nogs ). Don't think I would take peak Califf/Valdes over Marquez/Tribett/Yaro and while Harvey has turned into a good left back he wasnt very good way back when. I'd take either Fabinho or Gaddis 2016 over Harvey 2010/11. Thoughts ?
Yeah probably Marquez and Valdes as CB pair. I agree too about Fabinho. Hopefully though, he doesn't stay for too long as our best ever LB. But he'll do for now.
Good shout on Mapp on the outside. I'd say Califf was better in 2010 then people give him credit for. In 2011 he wasn't as good as people think, as Valdes was exceptional that season. Let's also not forget having BC7 in his prime sitting in front of the D either. He put out a ton of fires.
So I saw that (somewhat poetically) BC passed SLT for minutes played in Seba's last game with the Union. With BC now at 13,496 and Seba at 13,437 (and the next closest actives being Gaddis at 10,132 and Fabinho at 6,250), the top two probably isn't changing any time in the next few seasons. Last night, Pontius tied Nogs for sixth in all time Union goals at 9.
Summer means that my spreadsheet sits for a few weeks at a time. I'm finally all updated, but there is no sense of going through each and every game to show who swapped where. Instead I'll actually list some of the regular season "records." 50 in career, but fell short of the single team 50-50 club. Sad he did not get the chance for that 150th team start.
Officially (as in per MLS) he does. I think celt1997 only tracks primary assists. Speaking of which, per MLS, Fabinho got his 10th assist tonight. Pontius is now the sixth player to score 10 goals or more for the Union. Blake tied Mondragon for second in shutouts tonight too (7 each).
I go by official numerical stats which do not give secondary assists. MLS will list a secondary in the box score, by name, but if you look at numerical stats for that game they do not give the secondary assist for recorded stats. I believe they do that because it would not be fair since secondary assists have not always been a thing.
I sporadically double check my numbers against each players page on MLS, which does count the secondary assists. So, MLS gonna MLS, I guess. Speaking of which, including secondary assists, Fabinho is now in sole possession of fourth place with 11. And in less controversial stats, Blake is now in sole possession of second place with 8 shutouts. MacMath had 28, so it is kind of hard to picture Blake hanging around long enough to set the team record, but a guy can dream. In the Columbus game, Fabinho became the ninth player to 80 games played and Sapong became the 24th to 50 games. Barring injury (knock on wood), Richie Marquez should be the 25th in three games. Fabinho also passed Carlos Valdes in minutes and is now seventh all time at 6,609.
*bump* With the LAG shutout, Blake became the second goalie in team history with ten shutouts. MacMath is still way ahead of him with 28. During the RBNY game, CJ tied and then passed Conor Casey (21) and is now third in team history in goals with 23. Jack is two ahead of him with 25. Tonight, Pontius became the sixth Union player to record ten 10 assists (including secondary). Which actually makes him only the second (after SLT, obv) with double digits goals and double digit assists in team history. CJ would need three more assists to join the club, no one else is particularly close. Fabinho is up to 98 appearances now, passing Jack at 95 a few games ago. Barring something unfortunate, he'll become the seventh player with 100 regular season appearances.
Is Jack Elliott now the best to ever wear #3? Granted, not a lot of competition (JDG, Albright, Lee, Washington).
