I will miss this thread and Mikey at Roma. Hope some of you will continue to watch Roma and Serie A. Mikey playing at my favorite boyhood club has been one of the most frustrating things I have had to deal with when it comes to Roma. I wanted him to succeed so badly because he's a Yank and I wanted to see him on the biggest stage. I judged Mikey probably too harsh over the last 2seasons but I tried putting my yank fanboy behind me when he put on his Roma jersey. Good luck Mike.
I have mixed emotions. As an Italian -American, I've wanted to see Americans playing in Italy since the 70's. As a fan of both Serie A and MLS, I like it that MLS is retrieving a lot of their stars and having them come back to play in the domestic league but I can not for the life of me understand the crazy mixed up MLS salary cap DP rules. In one way I'm glad in another I'm sad. I wish more American would play in top leagues abroad but then again as an Italian fan or fan of Serie A, I've always been against employing too many foreigners. For one because I think there are just as many good and/or great Italian players and because of the foreign player influx in Europe but mostly in Italy anyway, a lot of guys get left out. I remember a time when all the GK's were Italian and you didn't need to employ a foreigner at that #1 spot and Arrigo Sachi had like 6-7 GK's to choose from for the national team. Seems like those days are over though.
Ha, I guess now is the time for our final goodbyes. Mikey's header against Munich a while back stands out as a YA moment I'll always remember. And now the world has moved on. Except for the last gunslinger, Freddy Adu.
Agreed. The clock is ticking on this thread. I personally recommend saying your goodbyes musically. I nominate Caleb Burhans Iceman Stole the Sun, since it seems to fit everybody's mood and it is a kinda-sorta pun.
Well the press conference has been held. TFC confirm Bradley signing, introduce him and Defoe at press conference I would think that officially ends it.
