We had a cantero performing with no suitable backup, or do you not remember how bad Arbeloa was. He was most certainly needed, especially when you consider in his first season Carvajal missed 19 games due to injury and 28 in total since Danilo joined just two seasons ago. A lot of teams wanted Danilo not just Barcelona, as I said, was just a bonus.
Read the first couple of pages in his thread. For that price he wasn't bought to be backup. Everyone agreed we overpaid and though a backup was needed, it didn't need to be that kind of move. He was bought to prevent him replacing Alves at Barcelona. And buying players to prevent them from joining Barcelona is a bad transfer policy. Anyways, the world is waiting for Vinicius...
He does not look like or play like he is 16. Once he gets the experience, which is the only real question mark, we may well look back on this as a very shrewd investment.
Some nice touches and ball control there. Dude is gifted technically. If he develops physically as he should, he has a great future. I hope above all he continues to remain a professional despite all possible distractions.
Looks very comfortable on the ball and had some dangerous shots/crosses. Aspect lacking is physicality, which will develop with age but also when he makes the move to Madrid. Neymar had to put on about ~8 kg to deal with European defenders.
Yup. He still hasn't played 100 minutes of top flight football yet I like the improvement he has made from nervous debut. I can see him being a top player in Brazilian league by the time he's about to join us.
He's just 16 though, it'll come with age. I've yet to see a 16 year old being able to wrestle himself past players that are 10/15 years older. He doesn't look like Neymar at that age as well (who was as thin as a needle), he's not that weak.
Lol he lost or miss passed almost all of his balls to him. He definitely needs more playing time with the A team.
Yeah, poor game. That's why it's good he is there and not here. He will have games like this. Still had two good chances and was unlucky not to score.
So, we spent more money on this kid than we did in each of our starters (except Ronaldo) on the recent CL final. Gonna be fun when he'll be playing in Spain's third division in some years time.
Will it be as fun as your ultra-negative perspective you continually seemed forced to share in every thread? We can only hope.
So you think its actually more likely for him of becoming an actual world class player, or completely flop like hundreds of cases where top class teams overespent on youngsters?
Who knows. I'm not sure why you find it "fun" imagining a scenario in which one of our players becomes a failure though.
I find it fun because, as I already mentioned, we spent more money on him than we did for Ramos or Benz for example (they were youngsters too back then, but already established players). This guy has barely played professional football in his life, that signing was very risky from our side. I would like to be refuted in the near future from his performances and of course I want him to develop into an actual huge player for our team. I just don't think the chances of this happening are high. We'll see.
