What a match though. Sweden have every right to feel aggrieved. Germany have every right to be proud. What a match.
This is the most I've ever watched a WC. Just busy in the meantime. Thoroughly enjoyed most of the matches. Been impressed with England, Belgium, and Croatia. Been really disappointed with Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and France.
Unfortunately, I've got a boss who doesn't understand the importance of the World Cup. France has been ho-hum to watch.
i've caught most of the action. France has been fine, but that's the problem, they have the potential to blow people away and aren't even coming close to that. it's disappointing, and Deschamps has them playing negatively. Croatia could compete with anyone from what i'm seeing. Argentina LOL. Brazil, IDK what's going on England are REALLY good at set pieces and will be interesting to see if they can continue to leverage that. Belgium may actually be the best team so far Spain have been disappointing yet won their group and may have an easy path to the finals. Germany, also IDK what's going on except that they absolutely should have taken Sane. Mexico are on fire and will be interesting to see how they do in knock outs honestly though this has actually been a super fun WC so far.
Argentina go through! That second touch and finish from Messi was sublime. Higuain should take lessons from Rojo as well.
Senegal and Japan finished on the same number of points, GD, goals scored then it comes down to yellows and red which is the fair play rule.
sucks but at the same time, what else you going to differentiate by when it get's that deep on tiebreakers. especially since they tied head to head as well.
stupid to decide it all on the subjective whims of entirely different refs why not meet somewhere tomorrow for a Penalty kicks
I don't disagree, but that makes it really complicated with travel and whatnot. It may be a shitty rule, but everyone new it leading up to it.
What would have happened if the yellow and red cards were also the same? What was the next criteria? Edit. Answered my own question. Drawing of lots would have been ever harsher if it had come to that. Pursuant to the criteria listed in art. 32 (5) lit. a) to c) of the Competition Regulations, teams shall be ranked based on; greatest number of points obtained in all group matches goal difference in all group matches greatest number of goals scored in all group matches If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the first step, as happened in the case of Senegal and Japan, then the ranking will be determined by applying to the group matches between the teams concerned using the following criteria. greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned greater number of goals scored in group matches between the teams concerned greater number of points obtained in the fair play conduct of the teams based on yellow and red cards received in all group matches drawing of lots by the FIFA
