Just to add: The US doesn't have a uniform national curriculum in any field. That's not how US education works. and, yeah, I don't think the place to start when dealing with obesity issues is with kids involved in sports, of any kind. It would be thrilling is the least active US kids were baseball rats.

Those kids who are not inclined toward physical activity would not be changed by the availability of futsal. It would just give them one more thing to ignore. My amateur guess is that those kids are a minority anyway, and that diet is the main culprit, not activity level.

Basketball is played at a high speed, having a futsal goal attached to the basketball goal would be a danger to the basketball players.

While this guy might not be good at explaining why there should be futsal courts in every city in the country, he is not wrong. Yes there are obstacles to achieving this such as who will pay for them, or build them, or retrofit the basketball or tennis courts. But it would be great to have such places to play for free! It could be the US version of streetball which could help our players have more creativity.

Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Don't get the reference. But all I was saying is that in an ideal world for soccer, there would be futsal courts in all the cities. Surely you wouldn't be opposed to this idea?

Now I know it's obviously not an easy (or realistic in every city) task. But if someone had way too much time and funding it would be pretty sweet.

I'm not opposed to the idea of doing a porno with Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. But the world isn't an ideal place.

Not Really, in Latin America are pretty common mixed-use courts like that:

I don't know how they play basketball down in Latin America, but here players would be running into those goal posts constantly.

It is played normally, the goals don't hurt

That might be an even better fanstasy! But unfortunately for you having futsal courts in cities is more realistic. If one cares enough they can make it happen, as there are futsal courts in a few cities around the US. Just not enough.

Sounds like your definition of "normally" includes a lot of two-hand set shots and no driving the baseline (layups are to be approached very careful).

I'm all for soccer courts, but combination soccer/basketball courts seem dangerous.

It is the normally definition of how the sport is played anywhere in the world. People of all ages play on these courts even at a strong pace and nobody gets hurt.

I think we should design our prisons differently as well.

This is a true story I heard it when I was young. My uncle joe was talking to his friend about his friends father. Evidently he was arrested in Scicly for being a mafioso. He was sentence to the "bandit town" it was a wide open town. You can do anything you want their gamble girls everything. You just could not leave the army made sure you could not leave. In this regard it was like the roach motel. Once you check in you can't get out at least not alive.

Any way a fight breaks out and my uncles friends father was shot in the head. They did not dump the body it was like in a catacomb. But someone had to go into to clean the bones. My uncle friend with actually go to the place and clean his father's bones. As a kid I saw a picture of the guy cleaning his father's bones. It showed him cleaning the hole in his skull where he was shot. True story I wish I knew the name of the town but at the time I was not interested. Can't ask his friend or my uncle because both are long dead.

I decided to play basketball in Manhattan it was a YMCA on the west side. There was not much space between the court and the wall. It also had a wooden door with a glass window. I go for a lose ball to save it and put my right hand through the glass window. Broke my thumb so I take a cab to ny hospital so they can set it and put it in a cast. I actually was born there.

Any way they put it in a cast. They told me to come back in a week to remove the cast. I go there, there are a bunch of technicians there to remove the casts from people. Guy is doing with looked like an electric saw. It starts to hurt and I tell him I think your cutting me. I have a high tolerance to pain so I am not sure. He says those machines don't cut skin and keeps cutting. I tell him again I think your cutting me. He tells me no I tell him I better not see blood. Well when the cast was off my whole thumb was cut on one side and a little on the other side. I went wild on the guy I began punching the crap out of him in front of everyone. I yelling at him why I am doing it. Doesn't cut skin right I take the saw and try to cut his throat with it but the machine got unplugged. Now people are screaming and guards show up. Now I think I am going to be arrested and in jail for sure.

Guess what they were so afraid of me suing them they did not press charges. In fact they got a hot nurse to take care of me. I probably could have banged her right there and then.

You know the Y wanted me to pay for the door. I said sure I will sue you and use your money to pay for the door. I never sued anyone in my life.

So I had to go back a few more times. I still got a scar on my thumb from it. No loss of felling though.

it's in the ussoccer federation, mls, all other leagues best interest to have as many fans and players as possible. If futsal courts were as obiquitous as basketball courts, there would no doubt about having a huge player and fan base. It becomes a self perpetuating system.

Yeah. And maybe if every high school had a ping-pong table in it's cafeteria, more American players would win Wimbledon once in a while.
