Semi-arbitrarily, I'm picking today to start the new "All about..." thread. As always, it's your all-purpose thread/sticky for generic YA news -- odd "Whatever happened to..." questions and posts, questions, and other stuff you just aren't quite sure what to do with.

    Here's last season's version:

    http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/all-about-yanks-abroad-catchall-thread-2016-17.2034295/

Here's an archive of past YA "All About..." threads:

    http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/all-about-yanks-abroad-thread-archive.914322/

And, for reference, the "Detective Work" thread for potential YAs you've spotted online.

    http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/th...-guy-is-a-yank-detective-work-thread.1987805/

This guy hopes you get a "kick" ... out of the new thread!

    Oh man, that's funny.

I've even got content -- came across a story about a '90 named Drew Russell the name of which I can't recall hearing:

CEDAR RAPIDS — Soccer took Drew Russell halfway around the world and back.

    ...

A business associate of his father, Brad, talked up his own son’s experience with 1860 Munich's youth developmental soccer academy in Germany. A video of Russell was compiled, sent overseas and Russell received the coveted invitation.

I'm just logging this here rather than starting a thread for now:

[Armando] Jimenez, who graduated from Tech this past spring, is preparing to chase a spot on a semi-professional team in Mexico. He acknowledged the opportunity as one that he’s always held high on his list of goals.

    https://www.itemlive.com/2017/08/24/techs-jimenez-will-pursue-dream/

He was born in Mexico, but could certainly be a citizen. Will keep my eyes open for news.

I am kind of surprised not to find a thread on this guy ---- Kyle Varley

I have been tracking him since last season at Red Star Zurich II - he has now been 'upped' to Red Star Zurich. (as of July1st)

A 21 year old DM, who has been in and out of the junior squad at Red Star - I don't believe he played College - but went to Europe from High School (in Tuscon AZ)

He played this weekend, (his debut) coming off the bench at 77 minutes in a 0 - 2 away win in 1. Liga Classic (Group 3) Which I believe is 3rd tier in Switzerland (Super League / Challenge / 1 Liga Classic)

I do believe that a thread for him would be appropriate

You are welcome to start one -- generally @RobtheAggie updates on lower-division Yanks in Switzerland here but there's no reason they can't have their own thread.

A current US U17 pool player, Jesus Sahagun, had been with Malaga CF's academy in Spain for a little while, though we never had a thread for him. He's now back with Weston FC in Florida.

Duh. I did think there was a Travis thread somewhere, but maybe not.

    Travis is Tristan's older brother.

Antonio Soave has been mentioned in a past catchall thread:

    http://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/al...atchall-thread-2015-16.2024078/#post-33323644

And now he's back in the news:

A former Brownback cabinet secretary who played semi-professional soccer in Italy likely will announce a run for Congress later this month.

Antonio Soave, who stepped down as Kansas Commerce secretary in June after less than two years in the position, sent an email to supporters Saturday outlining his plans.

As usual I cannot find this YA on the site (but I bet his here)

Zachary Hamm played for Meppen and Osnabruck - last heard of in 2016 when he left Osnabruck has latched on to SV Seligenporten in Germany's Regionaliiga Bayern. According to the report from Seligenporten's web he is awaiting his paper work

    http://www.svs-seligenporten.de/termine/Auswaertsschwaeche_kontra_Heimkomplex.html

As this is not in cement - FuPa has Zachary info up until leaving Osnabruck
