Just saw the highlights on FS1’s halftime coverage of the BL and what a fantastic header by Morales. Ran onto a cross from the right wing, leaped, and hit a powerful downward leader to the left corner of the net. Sweet finish.

What's the skinny on Morales in the Nats setup? Starting midfielders in the Bundis don't grow on trees? Will he get a call up for the next round of Euro friendlies? I'd have to put him about McKennie in our MF pecking order.

I've asked in other threads if maybe we underrate him. He's accumulated the number of Bundesliga starts we typically associate with an automatic Nats selection but yet it has never seemed to work out that way. Probably the most truthful answer is neither prior coach gave him a real chance in his actual position (#8). You gotta think he deserves a shot in our current setup with three CMs even if at 28 he's a little old for this cycle.

We have Captain Trapp that's taking us to the promise land.

Morales can play the attacking 8 with some defensive bite, however, when he was tried for USMNT he was looked as a backup for Jones he did ok but not enough to continue to get calls. As far as I remember he never crapped the bed like others that got more chances to make it.

That was how I remembered it too. Gotta be worth a look, held a job in the Buli for a while now.

Him next to Adams would be quite good. They remind me of each other. He scores and I believe Adams will. Either way, glad he's still in the BL1.

well, I am happy for him and we can give him a shot, but we shouldn't overstate his production. He has totaled 9 goals in 5 seasons as a starter (he basically has fiver years playing as a starter in teh BL or 2.BL in his 10 years as a professional): 2 in the BL and 3 in the 2.BL). So, he is averaging less than 2 goals a year. Now, he did score 4 last year int eh 2.BL, so maybe he is hitting the peak period of his career as a 28 year old. If he continues to produce, he merits inclusion in a camp.

I think 2 goals per year is not a bad ration for a defensive player. Remember he doesn't play BL1 for a powerhouse of a team, so his chances to be in a position to score in BL1 is minimal.

He could be a Jermaine Jones junior, which is a lot more than what I see right now from the MLS mids, except Adams.

Morales can be serviceable for the next 2-3 years.

Morales looking very bright in a box-to-box CM role in a 4-1-4-1. Great defensive track back at 16 min.

Morales is playing the Left attacking mid and his job is also to come back help the two Wingbacks.

Morales and his partner have the freedom to roam anywhere.

Has been playing more centrally the second half and just had a blocked shot following a finesse move in the area. Another good game by him, actually.

the game ended 0-0. I have a hunch these two teams will be fighting for their lives come to the end of the season.

Morales played an advanced role, not dmid by any means (where i would expect him for USMNT)...seems they want him running into the box and trying to score.

strengths: tracking back defensively and winning the ball, tackling, had a good long range shot (just over the bar) and almost scored on a deflected shot in the box late in the game.

dusseldorf is pretty sloppy but play with a lot of passion...will be interesting to see if they can keep getting results as the season goes on.

stuttgart needs a playmaker....maybe sonora will have a role with them in the future. also, saw cherundolo on the sidelines....maybe he will get a promotion later this season.

He should get a call. He's been good this season, and he is much, much, much better than Trapp, Roldan and Acosta.

Yes, but the coaching staff still thinks he is below Jones and Bradley, thus, putting him below Roldan and Acosta.

Actually Morales is playing the Bradley B2B role, not the Trapp DM role.

He's better doing the former, too.
