The translation provided by Twitter said he's taking a training break due to a "stubborn infection."

to expand on the above looks like he rejected an offer for a contract extension.

no idea where he would go next. Or whether he decides to move abroad. He'll be 28 in a few days, fast approaching his last chance at playing in a different country at a decent age.

it's another reason as to why he seems to not be playing recently.

At his age, still in his prime, I'd love to see Morales head to MLS. There are numerous teams that could use a lock down defensive midfielder who's decent at getting into the attack when needed. I'd venture to say he'd be in the uppper echelon of d-mids if he were to come to MLS.

I would imagine that would be his fallback option if he doesn't latch up with a better team. He does have a growing family so MLS may sound very good to him.

He´ll be playing in the first Bundesliga next season, he´s going to Fortuna Düsseldorf (Just got promoted), Claudio Reyna wanted to have him but Morales said it was too early in his career to move to NY yet, also Hamburg and Hertha were interested in him.

Only reason to move to MLS is so that Dan Garner plays him on the USMNT. Otherwise MLS is a stupid big drop off from the BL or BL2.

More or less. MLS pays a lot better these days, but it's still not paying DMids like Morales lower-BL1 money and he's still in his peak earning years. Plus, if he signs with MLS rather than a team, he won't have the risk of being traded all over the place regardless of his family needs. Besides, if he's playing regularly for Dusseldorf and they can stay in BL1, he'll be on the MNT radar anyway.

Dusseldorf will probably offer him a two-year deall that'll bring him to 31, which is let's-move-to-MLS time.

Not to mention the lady situation in Duess/Koeln/Bonn/Koblenz is off the hook. I mean, if one is in to that sort of thing.

Good move for him- think it's about his level (hard to say, but he's certainly not upper-table level) and he should get a good paycheck. Good opportunity to play top-flight ball while in the prime of his career. Good luck to him!

What was the reason why he never did well with the National team?

Similar reasons to Johnson and Chandler?

Jones was always played with Bradley, we never really saw Morales enough as a DMid.
