Starts & plays the 1st half in a friendly in San Diego: San Diego native Alejandro Guido wore the captain’s armband for the Tijuana Xolos for the entire first half as well and put in a solid effort in the midfield. The atmosphere really exceeded expectations as the fans really turned up for the game and generated a spectacle. https://eastvillagetimes.com/2018/0...p-xolos-club-america-draw-but-san-diego-wins/

Congrats to Alejandro on his first USMNT callup. I had noticed that the U.S. Soccer website had been starting to include him in their Americans Abroad recap despite his not being involved with U.S. Soccer on any level since early 2015.
Wow, didn't know that the roster was released already. If not for injuries, Alejandro would've been called up years ago.
The wild thing is Guido is the 6th-*oldest* player on this youthful squad. Anyway, it's encouraging to see the USSF has been paying attention to not-young-but-not-old players like him and Green who haven't been with the federation in a while but have been grinding their way back. Hopefully we see, for example, Romain Gall for the June friendlies.

Rotational, anyway. Guido played ~900 minutes in last season's Apertura (league and cup), then Tijuana got a new manager, and he only got ~360 in the Clausura. Seems like the new manager doesn't rate him highly.
Maybe this Just saw Alejandro Guido walking towards the stands to watch the game with Xolos fans. The American recently recovered from an injury and took part in a U20 game for Tijuana earlier today. #LigaMXeng— Cesar Hernandez (@cesarhfutbol) August 23, 2018 I think that it was a strained groin.

Guessing he got a release from Xolos cause I thought he signed a contract extension with them back in 2017 (granted I dont know how many years it was).
