Alejandro Guido signs with Club Tijuana

Got the start in Liga MX yesterday, a win vs. William Yarbrough and Leon. Played well. Despite all the hardships he's been through in his career, he's still just 23 and is worth keeping an eye on.

He entered as a sub in the 58th minute. Couldn't watch so hopefully someone can shed some light on the appearance.

 

Deep cut here so bear with me. Alejandro Guido, 23, played a lot with U.S. U17s and U18s, then fell off the radar and seemed to struggle at Tijuana. BUT, he's begun to get consistent minutes. Subbed on in 58th minute of a 1-0 win over Necaxa on Friday. Played well. GIFs coming.

Whats deep cut mean?

 

Since I used the term, I'll define it. "Deep cut" typically refers to an obscure but valuable track on an album. But it's also used to refer to anything obscure but valuable. So, given that Guido isn't known to most casual fans but has real ability, he's a deep cut in the USMNT player pool.

 

Nice. Yeah he and Pelosi I had high hopes for from that age group and both seemed to have been side tracked by serious injuries. Good to see Guido coming back

Guido nearly signed with Monterrey as a 14-year-old. His family was willing to move there, and they agreed to a deal in principle. Then, Miguel says, Monterrey switched the contract length from three to seven years. The family backed out.

Started and played 69 mins. He was pretty good on the ball and made some decent passes but he also was getting pushed off the ball easily.

True but he is from San Diego so it probably makes more sense ( I am pretty sure he still lives with his parents like Arriola did)
