Holthusen Garners MAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week Honors. Again. http://www.gozips.com/news/2017/11/...ac-mens-soccer-player-of-the-week-honors.aspx
Akron freshman Joao Moutinho was selected by the coaches as the 2017 Freshman of the Year. http://getsomemaction.com/news/2017/11/9/2017-mac-mens-soccer-postseason-awards-announced.aspx
But Stuie time would have been canceled without the heroics of local-boy Skye Harter, who scored the game-tying goal with 17 seconds to play in regulation ... Akron's chance at a top-8 seed awaits the MAC final against WMU on Sunday ...
As always, talent local to Akron played a huge part in Zips’ success. It has always been so! Most soccer fans outside NEO do not fully recognize this. There has never been a Zips squad without players that I watched play in high school. And my recollection begins in 1977. Excellent point by you, Zip fan in exile!
Zips need to focus on beating WMU. It will take the best effort this season to best them in their crib. For decades we have bemoaned the lack of worthy competition in MAC. Well, that day has come. Broncos are really good!
Stuie TIme! The delivery from De Vera was pin-point perfection, and Holthusen did not miss the chance. Watch the second half on ESPN3. #AkronMade #ZipsGameday pic.twitter.com/bqWNioUb0g— Akron Zips M Soccer (@ZipsMSoc) November 12, 2017
Sammy! What a finish from Gainford to give the Zips the lead back. #AkronMade #ZipsGameday pic.twitter.com/i4kocH6reH— Akron Zips M Soccer (@ZipsMSoc) November 12, 2017
Manuel passes to the back of the net. Check the quality assist from Quick Hinds. Cordeiro's calm and cool as he turns in the cross to double the Akron lead, Zips up 3-1. #AkronMade #ZipsGameday pic.twitter.com/w5AIkjqDcv— Akron Zips M Soccer (@ZipsMSoc) November 12, 2017
Right now, Akron is 7th and Western Michigan is 8th. I could see them not seeding the Broncos...they don't have lights so the NCAA may want to send them on the road as soon as they can.
Akron 3-0 Seattle Not that close, really. When was the last match in which Stuart Holthusen DID NOT score?
