Old footballers are never late in posting a new thread, they just get knee operations. Coming off a stellar 2015, the 2016 season began with huge expectations. These hopes were derailed as a key player, and team leader, self-destructed. Many starters are moving on from the program, so rebuilding has begun, again. But things change very quickly nowadays in college soccer. Players come and go seemingly in a blink of an eye. We shall remain optimistic, and we shall watch intently every move of our coach and of our program. The viability of NCAA Soccer has been challenged, and rightly so. NCAA Soccer must either adapt to the new soccer landscape or diminish. All other factions in American soccer have increased in influence while NCAA Soccer has remained static. I fear for the survival of collegiate soccer.

I know it's probably not the thread for a reply to this...but, I'm going to anyway. What other option is there? College soccer is going nowhere until/unless there is another viable option for an 18-22+ year old to continue to play and develop. I do not disagree that college soccer has been static, but HS is the same. The current DA and club system is all chaotic too. But, I don't feel this is any different than what's happened with US soccer in general through the years. Just more aspects of chaos.
You are correct. Though you make numerous salient points, Akron Zips 2017 is not the appropriate thread to wage discussion on the viability of collegiate soccer. I mentioned the subject in my introductory posting only as a topical reference point. I am eager to argue the subject elsewhere, but the thread here should focus on Akron MSOC. If nothing else, we need the publicity, any publicity. It would be unjust to detract from either this important topic or from the Zips by conflating the two.
