Is that seriously the link? The Beacon Journal needs to work on their link generation becaise that's terrible.
Interstate 71 Derby, edition 40!!!!! Ohio State 0-2 Akron The Zips really needed to beat somebody, anybody. May Coach John Bluem keep the job for the next 30 100 years!
Bowling Green 2-2 Akron 2OT Falcons now assured piece of MAC title. Where will 20160 MAC Tournament be played? The last ten have been played in Akron.
Akron 3-2 Grand Canyon 2OT Grand Canyon has come a long way in just two years. Watch out for them. A thrilling if not well-played match. Stuart Holthusen with the brace.
Akron 3-0 WMichigan Stuart Holthusen wth another brace. Bowling Green 0-0 Buffalo 2OT Akron will host MAC Tournament. Whew! That was close!
I think that's called "backing in to a win". Not the WMU game itself, though, because it wasn't close. On the other hand, the game was competitive on the scoreboard for far too long. It should have been 4 by halftime. On the gripping hand, Akron almost gifted Directional Michigan 2 or 3 with loose passes in the back. On the plus side, Lewis' work to get the assist on the third goal was phenomenal, at least as viewed from the opposite end. I think there are some black shorts still on the field from that set of moves.
JLew's assist was magnificent, beating three men off the dribble! I was waiting to get video before mentioning it.
Start watching at 1:10 to see both of JLew's assists. The second one at 1:27 is the one everybody is talking about.
Akron 4-0 WMichigan This MAC Tournament match was better Futbol than the previous one between the same sides just 6 days prior. Much better flow. Though they had most of the ball in the 1st half, Broncos could muster but a few nano chances. Then StuHolt scored a breakaway goal. Minutes later, AN10 served a brilliant thru ball into the the box, which drew the PK. After that conversion, WMU decomposed. The beautiful game gave way to increasingly dangerous fouling. Referee lost control of proceedings. For a brief spell, gang warfare threatened to erupt. Cards galore. I am not in the habit of calling out opposition players, but I will now. Branden Bye is a good collegiate AMF, but he is also a dirty player, intentionally injuring others at every opportunity. This is the fifth time I have watched his bad acting, and he is not yet a senior. Every time is the same, with two footed slide tackles from behind, elbows to face, fists to groin, etc. The only reason he is not sent off more often is because he has become adept at playing dirty. He is good at it. Next time I see him introduced, I will boo loudly, even before play begins. (I mean, what are my other options?) Branden Bye is a punk. A capable soccer player, but a punk nonetheless.
Officials: Referee: Dimitar Chavdarov; Asst. Referee: Art Arustamyan; Nikola Aleksic Brandon is spelled with an O. #19. Apologies for the misspelling.
