While I was out covering a country footy match today, and listening to this game on Triple M radio, I sent the above poster an SMS with the following words.... "What the &%$# was I thinking??" OK, I was wrong. Richmond v St. Kilda, at Telstra Dome: [result]Richmond 9.7 (61) St. Kilda 16.9 (105) [/result] And in Saturday's other afternoon contest, Carlton v North Melbourne at Optus Oval, Carlton: [result]Carlton 9.16 (70) North Melbourne 9.8 (62)[/result]
Saturday evening's matches... Adelaide v Fremantle, at AAMI Stadium: [result]Adelaide 12.8 (80) Fremantle 14.8 (92)[/result] And Collingwood v Brisbane, at the MCG: [result]Collingwood 11.7 (73) Brisbane 16.13 (109)[/result] Don't look now, but my wife is bragging about her perfect tipping record for the weekend so far.
Post-match reports from Saturday's games: Richmond v St. Kilda Report in the Sunday Herald Sun Report in The Sunday Age Feature in The Sunday Age Carlton v North Melbourne Report in the Sunday Herald Sun Report in The Sunday Age Feature in The Sunday Age Collingwood v Brisbane Report in the Sunday Herald Sun Report in The Sunday Age Feature in The Sunday Age Adelaide v Fremantle Report in the Sunday Herald Sun Report in the Adelaide Advertiser Report in The Sunday Times (Perth) Feature in The Sunday Times (Perth) And as I prepare to watch Geelong take on Sydney, there's a lot of Cats content in the Melbourne media this morning... Ablett softly, softly to limelight -- Sunday Herald Sun Lord twins double trouble -- Sunday Herald Sun Lord: Cats look grand, just like '63 -- Sunday Herald Sun Ablett Jr. seeks greatness in his own right -- Sunday Herald Sun Buddha plea to Nathan Ablett -- Sunday Herald Sun Geelong leaves contract talks for later -- The Age (from Friday) The Geelong bandwagon is nice and large nowadays.
The results from Sunday's matches... Geelong v Sydney, at Kardinia Park in Geelong: [result]Geelong 11.11 (77) Sydney 9.8 (62)[/result] It wasn't pretty, but at this stage of the season, it's all about the four points, baby. Hawthorn v Port Adelaide, at the MCG: [result]Hawthorn 7.11 (53) Port Adelaide 15.15 (105)[/result] And Melbourne v Western Bulldogs, at Telstra Dome: [result]Melbourne 12.21 (93) Western Bulldogs 7.13 (55)[/result] My tipping went 6/8 this weekend with Richmond (curses!) and Adelaide (more curses!!) letting me down. Mind you, Fremantle has been my bogey team of late-- tip them, and they lose, and they win whenever I go against them. For the season, my tipping total is now on 84/126.
You know the funny thing is, I actually thought the game was at the MCG which would have given the Tigers more chance with the weather possibly having an affect, but at Telstra Dome where the Saints haven't lost a game so far this season, they had no chance! I did get a laugh from your SMS mate, it was very funny! I tipped 7/8 to move onto 79 for the season and keep my hopes alive of beating babytiger2001 in the tipping. (we have a bet going) Adelaide let me down this weekend, costing me my first 8/8 for 2 years!
It certainly wasn't easy, but with Sydney playing a very defensive style of game, it was good to see Geelong able to find a way to win and cement their 5th spot on the ladder.
Just finished watching the round...I know I didn't post the tips this week (between too much extra innings baseball and an early week vaca) but believe it or don't I bagged another 7/8 in Round 16 with only Adelaide disappointing at home. I'll make it legit this week...on to Round 17 and another lucky 7!
Getting hot at the right time, I see. What do you guys think? Should we in this very community have an official tipping competion amongst ourselves for next season? Let me know what you think...
I'd be for it...save for the logistical problems of seeing the round action and news a week late here in the states...it's sometimes difficult to get tips in before the new round begins (as you saw in Round 16).
