I sense its a domestic based squad against Tajikistan, but in anyway it will be a good outing and provide some experience for the Afghans ahead of the game against Brunei.
http://www.regnum.ru/news/1347449.html Tajikistan 1-0 Afghanistan Farrukh Choriyev scored the only goal after 33 minutes.
Good Result for Afghanistan. They have one more game against Tajikistan Olympic side on the 23rd November.
Yes Bhutan The article above stated next match is against the Olympic side, but they might play against local clubs while in Tajikistan..
In match against Tajikistan, Afghanistan was reduced to 10 man in minute 30 and the goal was scored at 33, therefore, it looks a good result for Afghanistan which had not have its foreign based players. Any update on Afghanistan v. Tajikistan Olympic Side?
http://centralasiaonline.com/cocoon...ures/caii/features/main/2010/11/22/feature-01 game will be played on the 23rd November against the Olympic side of Tajikstan
Wikipedia states Afghanistan won 1-0 against the Olympic side. I dont know how reliable the source is, anyone else have a proper article?
Kohistani, Afghan captain, and Islam Amiri confirmed this on their facebook pages. Kohistani has scored the goal for Afghanistan. The team is back to Kabul today.
there is only 2 months before the play off game against Bhutan. Any news of the national team? and what is happening with the Europe Afghan Players? Balal Arezu, Herez Habib etc?
www.tolonews.com Afghanistan's Football Federation announced on Tuesday that for the first time ever Afghan football will make a website to have names of national and international football players registered Soon after the website named ‘Teams' is launched, the Afghan football players all around the world and foreign players could be attracted and encouraged to register their names and specifications on the website, said Technical Deputy of Afghanistan's Football Federation. Launch of the website will be a significantly professional step taken towards a progress in football in Afghanistan. Afghanistan's Football Federation has sent an envoy to Malaysia and Sri Lanka in line with the work of the website which is estimated to be completed in two months time. Yasin Mohammadi, Technical Deputy of Afghanistan's Football Federation said: "The website is 50% ready and it will help the Afghan football improve. Football players from all over the world could get their names registered on the website to get in touch with Afghan teams." Afghan football players hailed this move of the federation and urged private companies and national traders to pay some more attention to promoting football in the country. "This is a very good step forward. Afghan athletes no more depend just on one trainer for trainings. They try hard to get themselves to the level of professional football," said an Afghan football player.
In the recent matches in Tajikistan, none of the Europe or US based players were invited, however, Afghanistan Football Federation called on the Europe and US based players to contact their focal point in Europe to get registered for the play-offs against Bhutan. In the match against Tajikistan, these players entered the field. Interestingly, they are all from 4 clubs: KabulBank, Urdo, Sara Meyasht and Herat KabulBank. Hopefully there is a process in place that will stop this site getting abused from fake players from big clubs..
Afghanistan National Squad is starting their practice from today in Kabul. Meanwhile, Djelaludin Sharityar who is playing in Cyprus is likely to join the squad in play-offs against Bhutan in Feb. Sharityar is playing for Ethnikos Achna in First Division of Cyprus.
thats good news. I am hoping most of our good foreign Afghans make the trip for the playoffs, and i am sure with the Kabul based players and overseas, we will be a strong team. Especially with Belal Arezu up front
What's it like for the foreign based guys to go home? Is it easy to gain entry back into Afghanistan?
The entry is easy. They can simply fly from Dubai to Kabul and there are 4 or 5 flights each day. However, the problem is with the budget for their travel costs. Last time, Afghanistan withdrew from 2010 Challenge Cup qualifiers due to lack of funds.
That was a shame- to withdraw days before there first game. But looking forward to a big year ahead in terms of football for Afghanistan and even the Kabul based players i must admit surprised me with there 1-0 win over a strong Tajikistan Olympic side and a narrow 1-0 loss to the Tajik National side.
Arezu was seriously injured in a league match in Norway last year , Im not sure if he will be ready in February.
Mashreghi is the only Afghan player from US who will join for Bhutan clashes according to Homayoon Kargar, the head coach.
Why is that? I am certain that the European players are far better then players from the US? Why isnt he calling the European based players to come and play?
The Head Coach is mostly relying on the domestic leagues players for the play-offs. He said there would be one player from US, but not refused inviting European based players. It looks they are certain they will win Bhutan and will be placed in Group D of Challenge Cup Qualifier. There, they will have their strong squad and Ali Askar Lali, the former coach, is also joining them.
no game is easy as we saw when Afg last played Bhutan, they lost 3-1. I hope they are not over confident and will put the hard work in to win. But I really hope the European players join to play in these games.
