Afghanistan - Maldives
Livestream link :
Afghanistan 2-1 Maldives.
Anyone watch the game?
I am keen to understand how Belal Arezou played after not being part of the national team and also new players like Qays and Zadran
I think Belal was decent, as a striker, he was able to put some pressure on the net, however it's the likes of Maldives, so it isn't something to be proud of... however most of the ball control and moving the ball forward was Farshad Noor + Omid, so huge shoutout to them, they performed really well !! I would give Belal a few more chances, he could potentially be a good striker, definitely an upgrade from Zubayr and Khaibar, on the other hand, I wasn't a big fan of Qays, he was fairy slow, lots of turnovers + failed passes, missed a few attempts on goal, he had his moments, but for majority not the greatest. I felt he was a liability in the midfield that a better team could've capitalized on.
I guess the key is that we continue the momentum and get the win against lowly Cambodia, the big test is against Oman in a friendly and then Jordan.
Belal does move and create chances, but I am not sure whether we need that type of player in the current formation we play.... I prefer Armani as target man with the likes of popalzay, noor n co pressing forward.
I would play Amani against Cambodia too just due to his size. I feel like he would be a nightmare for Cambodia.
That was a horrible game all around, from every single player... that is unfortunate !
Also huge mistake on Otto's part for that formation, that was absolutely terrible... starting Qays was a mistake, and playing Noor at ST, another mistake... should've been Noor at Qays spot and Azadzoy at ST
******** this joke of a national team. Pussies of Afghanistan absolute joke.
Its over no chance of Asian Cup qualification
Who the hell is Qays Shayesteh?
Get rid of all the unnecessary parts. Start building for 2022 with a focus on domestic talent.
Im done with the Europeans. Drop them all for domestic talents the greatest embarrassment in the history of Afghan football.
And back we go deep into the Middle Ages of football. Domestic players ain't the answer since most of them aren't even semi pro for crying out loud.
We're just shit. That's all. I mean come on guys are you really suprised? We're Afghanistan lol not Italy. Joke of a nation. Always was, always will be.
Were already in the dark age of football atleast if we lose we'll be giving the kids in Afghanistan a chance to play.
We can't score on Cambodia, can't have a proper starting 11, Ovays can't go a game without a mistake... how the hell are we supposed to play against the likes of Jordan and Oman, LET ALONE the AFC qualified teams... the teams a joke
We need to sort our shit together, play more friendlies, treat EVERY game the same, whether its Jordan or Cambodia, and stop being cocky, play heart out in all games... huge huge mistake on Otto's part, Qays was terrible, and Noor barely touched the ball that game as ST
Game was poor, the players seemed like they had already won the game when they stepped foot on the pitch. Afghanista needs to come to terms and understand that beating Maldives etc does not make you a super power, keep focus and keep working hard!
Pfister or Dastig whoever made the decision to play 4141 was poor, Noor up front, he touched the ball a few times in the first half, to me that formation and the players selected were pathetic.
One thing I hate is that every recent coach of afghanistan has said that the core of the team is set and each camp, 4-5 new players are selected to be tested. (that is wrong, KEEP ALL THE PLAYERS ON THEIR TOES ABOUT NATIONAL TEAM SELECTION).
Make sure the players continue to focus on their club games and select players appropriately.
The team has focused on Europe-based players since the beginning of the decade and the best player we have in that time period is Farshad Noor. High level talent will never play for us. Do we expect upcoming players in the next 10 or 20 years to have much attachment to Afghanistan?
It is time for a long term strategy where the squad is complemented by capable domestic players over the next decade or so.
Honestly this is our strongest squad that we have ever had. Its just underperforming due to poor coaching, player selection, corruption, and a lack of passion from certain players. Shayesteh should be stripped of captain ship.
Afghanistan domestic players blown away against Iraq 8-0 in u23 qualifiers.
Sharif Mukhammad joined Farshad Noor at AFC ESKILSTUNA
Alright guys its time to move on from that match which embarrassed the nation and move onto the Arab games.
Oman and Jordan coming up
Ahmad Arash Hatifie
Its annoying how only one team switches places every draw
I think everyone on this forum was extremely disappointed with the result of the match, hence not much activity
The players that should not have been selected are as follows:
Belal Arezou -
Have better players to be called up, worse case - call up a current u20s / u17s player for experience
Qays Shayesteh -
played poorly against Cambodia, should not have been selected based on performance. again, call up current u20/u17 player for experience
Faysal Shayesteh -
has slowed down as a player, clubless, and performance has been below par in the last few games, although our current captain, based on performance, he should be dropped. again, call up current u20/u17 player for experience
Islam Amiri -
Cancer of the team, numerous players voiced their concerns about his reputation, character and off course the bribery scandal. Not needed in the team, and currently clubless. again, call up current u20/u17 player for experience
now, out of the current 21 players called up, 4 players of u20/u17 would NOT be an issue nor would they be required to play, as the team already has a core 15 or so players which are already in the starting lineup or there abouts.
I think were all going to be scarred with that defeat for a very long time.
