Thank you very much from me also. I like how this community as a whole uses to have an answer to basically everything, despite how "niche" we are!
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Football Committee agreed today on the importance of the introduction of a women’s football club competition in Asia. A pilot phase will precede the introduction the new AFC women’s club competition and the administration will study the format and timing of this. ...in other words AFC Women's Champions League may start in 2019.
These are so GREAT news!!! Meanwhile, in USA, a competition for clubs is already scheduled that could maybe eventually evolve into a World Cup for clubs. I am happy AFC is going in that direction. How I wish that, in the golden era of INAC Kobe Leonessa, an actual AFC Champions League (and a World Cup for clubs) had existed!!! INAC had to settle with Mobcast Cup instead, that finally faded away. I figure that an Asian Champions League would see at the top some clubs from the leagues of the finalist nations of today: so Nadeshiko League and Westfield W-League. Probably South Korean league and Chinese league wouldn't be too much far away. I have to wonder about North Korean club landscape.
If Thailand have enough left from the semifinal I think they can beat China for 3rd place. They played them even for almost an hour in the group match. And China looked really average vs Japan.
Yeah, considering potential China's notorious underperformer, They did look like it gonna happen for them when Hao Wei was their coach but then after WWC'15 he resigned or was sacked (if so why on earth?!). Bini's rule was a failed experiment. Now Ejolfsson is trying to get back to Hao's ideas and it looks promissing but on the other hand CFA is known for little patience...
And just when you say that, at 21', China scores! I root for Thailand too, but I am afraid they gave their everything in the 120' vs Australia. China, instead, at times didn't even try vs Japan, so I am afraid that different stamina levels will make the difference here.
I guess that's that. 3-0. GK Boomsing off with injury too. Hopefully they get a consolation goal at least.
If not for the red card in the semi, this would be Japan vs Thailand. As it is I see the Nadeshiko winning as long as they finish their chances.
Asako Takakura first match as Japan coach, barely month on the job... comment on first look Nadeshiko from sorely missed Tony DiCicco (51:40)
