I've never gone to a road match as a visiting fan. I was planning a trip to Quebec this October and I just realized that Crew will be playing Montreal when I'm there. I'm not a member of any supporters group... is it the norm for all visiting fans to sit in the designated section (where do you even get those tickets?!?)? Or should I just get random section tickets on stub hub, wear my crew colors and try not piss anyone off or cheer too loudly? I feel like you are more inclined to a confrontation if you are sitting in the visiting supporter section. I just don't wan't to be taunted in French or get a beer dumped on my head. What should I do? Maybe I'm just overthinking the whole thing.

As long as you steer clear of the Montreal Ultras supporters section you will be fine wherever you get seats. MLS fans are generally very welcoming and friendly across the league. Bring an extra scarf to exchange with a local fan.
My main motivation for the trip was Quebec City, which i've heard great things about. But yeah Montreal should be cool as well. It's destiny that the Crew will be there. And it's also destiny that I have a Jukka Raitala (now with the Impact) Crew jersey, which will show that I come in peace
