The manager didn't want Adu to have all the pressure of pleasing seven spectators for 90 minutes. He's easing him in to that kind of pressure.

Is La Ligue the MLS of Europe? :p

It's just called "Ligue 1", not "La Ligue". La LIGA is in Spain

Can you (or anyone else) tell me if Monaco's first two subs were an ill-advised prelude to the tying own-goal or a poorly-judged response to said goal?

Both of those first subs were made after the spectacular own goal. O.G. was in the 74th minute; sub #1 came on in the 76th, sub #2 in the 81st. Freddy came in the 87th.

I bet we'll see more of him next time. Maybe he'll get in around the 85th minute next game...

    Thank you. FYP.

When is Adu going to play for a coach who cares more about winning games than he does about keeping Adu humble?

Seriously, that gets annoying. I think he would get more playing time if he was the silent type. It's not his fault that he has a bright personality and enjoys playing soccer. He wouldn't be the same player if he had the "blue collar attitude".

Really, it's too early to tell what Ricardo's approach will be after Freddy literally just joined the team, but we should know more in a month or two. I'm still hopeful.

At least this makes me feel much better about Red Bulls attendance.

    Also, free Freddy!

Yeah its really fair to compare a place with 30,000 inhabitants to a team that plays in a area with over 10 million inhabitants.

Seriously, are we gonna have to endure "Monaco attendance jokes" all season in these threads because if so then I'm not posting here. I was a Monaco fan before Freddy Adu and I'll be one after he's gone and the smartass attendance jokes are lame cheap shots that will no doubt be driven in the ground. You guys are making me hope Adu fails and I am an American. If you knew anything about football outside of MLS, England and Italy then you'd know about the Monaco attendance situation or maybe you already knew and you just enjoy taking your swipes because of your love for an average player who hasnt proven anything.

besides howard and friedel (i guess friedel is alright), do americans even play in top leagues in europe any more? if you are going to sit on the bench every game (dempsey, spector, johnson, zizzo etc.) you might as well go to a lower euro league (belgium, denmark, sweeden, etc.) or a lower division (i.e. the championship, bundesliga 2, serie b). why dont they give adu a chance? every time i watch him play he does well.
