So I was cruising through my local soccer store in Canada when I noticed the price of Copa's had jumped up like crazy. The girl working there said that part of the reason is that k-leather boots are banned in the U.S. I'm not sure how true this is but I was wondering if someone can shed light on this.
Yeah California only. You can't even ship the shoes to California from somewhere else. What I was told by some guys at adidas is that their costs had gone up. Namely, everyone at the adidas factory in Germany got a raise. Now whether that is true or not, I don't know but it took them longer than I expected them to.
Copa 17.1? My foot is 28.5 cm and in for example Adidas X I use 45 1/3. Having in mind that Copa 17.1 has a leather front should I stay loyal to 45 1/3, or should I eventually go down a size (44 2/3)?
well done mayte, you're now some ITK source that people actually wrote an entire article based on your comment =P http://www.tepy.pl/en/articles/5961-will-adidas-return-with-the-predator-line.html
I live in Sacramento and I was able to buy a Nike Tiempo Legend VI and a Copa 17.1 from SoccerPro (Missouri), and a Mizuno Morelia II from Unisport (Denmark). They were able to ship them to me. Although when I go visit my local shops they seem to lack high-end boots like the Copa or the Tiempos because of their kangaroo leather. The takedown models, however, are present.
The Copa 17.1 runs true to size but if you do want an even more snug fit you can go half a size down. DO NOT go down a full size. Trust me, that's what I did and long story short it's just collecting dust on my shoe rack.
Adidas rant: they almost always never fit me right. The first recent adidas product I bought was back in 2015 when I got the orange colorway of the X 15.1. I'm a size 8 US (my feet measure 25.7 cm) and they fit fine. When I got the X 15+ Primeknit, however, they were too long. Like, a size 9 person could easily wear my pair and swear it's their size. On to the X 16.1. Knowing that adidas runs kinda long I went for a size 7.5 US and although it fit me perfectly length-wise, they actually hurt my feet pretty bad because the rock-solid upper would press down on my big toes until both actually turned black and fell off. Then I got a Copa 17.1 in a size 7 US (one whole size down) and boy was that a mistake. All these boots are now sitting on my shoe rack collecting dust. I posted them on a local posting site for around $100-120 for all of those. The only good thing that came out of this was I am able to take the insoles on my X 16.1 and use them on my Morelia IIs and the fit actually improved a lot.
Interesting. I only mentioned the shipping because at the company I used to work for we were told that were not allowed to ship k leather boots to California.
Bro, I went for my size and they fit very nice. I can also put some socks on if they stretch, but it seems like this shoe will not stretch, just form to your foot. The shoes are good!
What was your reason to go a whole size down???? Did you think it's like Copa Mundial ? When in doubt I always go a half size up, and if it's big then I can wear a thick sock or even an extra sock or add an insole, it's always easier to handle a bigger size than a smaller. of course a half size up according to the boot, for example I wear 8UK, with the Kaiser I should go 7UK, but I decided to go 7.5UK and it worked, if I had 7UK it would bend my toe. Also with the Umbro Speciali I went a half European size up from 42 to 42.5, it was a good choice even if it's slightly bigger, but I used a thick sock and it fit me perfectly.
Well, I had some bad experience from adidas models because even though I got the correct size for me, I would still find maybe 0.75 inches of deadspace from the tip of my longest toe to the end of the toebox of the shoe. That's why I went down a full size for the Copa 17.1. It did eliminate deadspace but I found that my toes would jam into the end of the toebox so easily especially when braking from a sprint. I'm not sure why this didn't happen to me while wearing my Nikes and Mizunos. There was little to no deadspace but my toes wouldn't jam into the upper every time I braked. Idk maybe it's my foot shape or something.
I think I've mentioned this to you before, but if you are 8UK, that means you should wear 8.5UK in Adidas, so if you are wearing a 7.5 in the Kaiser then you infact have gone a whole size down. I'm am the same as you - my Umbro Special size is 8UK/9US/EU42.5/ - and my Copa/Kaiser size is 7.5UK/8US
yeah I remember that, I meant the doubt by comparison to your sizing according to each boot, as you mentioned, the adidas size is different so the half-size-up doubt should be considered according to the whole size down, for example if he wears 8UK and wants to get a 7UK in Copa/Kaiser but he suspects the boot would be small and tight, he should maybe go 7.5UK, a half size up because of the doubt, but if he is sure he will of course pick the 7UK.
To be honest I don't think I have explained myself properly. Look at the US sizes in all of your boots. Ignore the UK and the EU ones. This might help you understand what I am trying to say!
I understood you perfectly, and my post doesn't contradict with yours, in fact I took the example of adidas because it goes well with what you said.
Sorry - part of your post actually contradicts what I have said. Specifically this part: But I really don't want to bore everyone on the forum by going on about it again and again! It doesn't matter really, as long as you are happy with your boots. But please understand you have gone a full size down in your Kaisers. You normally wear 9US (eg in your Umbro Specialis) and you are wearing 8US in your Kaisers. As I said, forget about the UK sizes, it just makes it confusing. ps - Sorry everyone!
Apparently predators are back in December! Fingers crossed for a return to the classics rather than just a name tag
Footyheadlines posted a pic earlier this year of Rakitic wearing a blacked out new model, it looks really similar to the ACE, if it's the one they'll introduce as the new Predator, then they're just renaming the ACE to Predator.
I'm happy if they evolve the ace to have extra grip/predator elements as the instinct was a good model that had less successful versions before just to get the ball rolling, but if your gonna use the name do it right
I was really excited to try the Ace. I didn't want to pay retail for them though so managed to get a pair odd eBay. I got the Ace.17 and I have to say I was so disappointed with them. The fit and the touch just didn't suit me. They look greet but that was all I took from them. The boost insole felt none existent. I'd like to see something else done with the design because they were a huge let down to me once I'd worn them a few times. Glad I managed to get them cleap because I'd be annoyed at myself for paying retail once I'd got them on my feet. appleCORR
yea, doesn't look like they're gonna have those elements. Not sure their primeknit tech is advanced enough to make those grippy elements tbh.
