Thanks for the bump and the reminder that people on BS were outraged that Bruce Arena didn't resign on the pitch in Trinidad.

God forbid he fly home and talk with US Soccer before resigning. For shame, Bruce!

Did the “real power” part go over your head. Because if he had real power over the mess in this country at the men’s team, women’s pay, ticket gouging, and youth failures - he should have been fired first.

Also, Arena should have been fired instead of letting him resign. We will see if the German FA is just as understanding.

Yes, the outrage is the fact that there wasn't a dick waving demonstration that achieved the exact same result.

Low is still the manager right now so your standard, or least the standard of the OP, doesn't stand up.

    Exactly.

Emotional people like neems demand silly actions that don't amount to anything. Why? To make himself feel better.

If he resigned immediately Klinsi would've had to fly over in his helicopter to give Arena a ride home.

    Emotional? Ok.

I get it, for you, accountability to results is not something that you value or engage in meaningfully. It's often the case in many organizations as well.

However, holding executives and coaches accountable for their results is not emotional. Becoming defensive, agressive, and insulated is.

Actually, if I were to read anything into my interactions with you, it's you who is extremely defensive and emotional.

It's clear we aren't going to agree, so I'm really just disengaging from this for now - which might have been your goal in the first place.

Neems, why do you confuse accountability with humiliation? You’re like a samurai.

There may have been some people on BS who were "outraged that Bruce Arena didn't resign on the pitch in Trinidad". I haven't read every single post ever posted here on the subject to see who, if any, said that. But that is so rare a view on BS that it is very hard to find. Almost all people on BS who expressed their views were not "outraged that Bruce Arena didn't resign on the pitch in Trinidad".
Now if you had said that "Many on BS called for Bruce to resign after the US was eliminated from the WC" that would have been true. But, for some reason of yours, you instead went full "False! Nein?". And while the ranks of those who called for him to resign may have had many who were outraged, the outrage was at the incredibly poor leadership that led to our being eliminated from the WC-- not at the timing of his resignation [which was very swift by our usual USSF standards].

Since then, over the last few months, as Bruce Arena made it clear from interviews and his book that the last person he was going to hold accountable for our failure to qualify was himself, outrage has grown. Very justifiable outrage at such shamelessness. Klinsmann dishonored himself by his refusal to hold himself accountable for the consequences of his actions, and many who expected better from Arena were disgusted that when it came time for him to accept responsibility for what happened under his command Bruce was no better than Klinsmann.
Outrage at the hucksterism and venality of our leadership and managers is Real, False 9. Your "reminder" is False, False 9.

Neems may not have gotten it right, as far as firing Bruce over letting him resign. I do think it was reasonable to resign three days later. But he is assuredly right as to the huge problem an organization faces when its leadership refuses to be accountable for , to own up to, its failures. Bruce has certainly proven Neems point, again and again, in the intervening months. Now, You? You embrace the False.

Shrug. Anybody who was anybody with the USMNT/USSF in terms of leadership over the course of the 2018 cycle has paid a huge price. They're out of jobs or their reputations are shot. The only guy who appears to have gotten off easy was Clint Dempsey...………….a captain who had no interest in being a leader.
