According to Transfermarkt, Omar has left Jaguares de Cordoba and is back with Tigres II. It was a loan and not a permanent transfer, as Omar's Linkedin page confirms: https://www.linkedin.com/in/omar-salgado-ab9a82a9 His Linkedin page shows he just graduated from Northeastern University, and he was congratulated by Jay DeMerit: Big 👊🏻 and congrats to @Omaresalgado for completing his degree while playing PRO! Well done bro🏋🏾#PlayHard #BeSmart pic.twitter.com/1HZ3RSoBn1— Jay DeMerit (@D6MERIT) May 14, 2016
The Liga MX site says Salgado is unattached and we know his stint in Colombia is over. It seems he is a free agent for now. If he's healthy, a USL gig might make a lot of sense for both player and club. It's hard to see him breaking into a Mexican league club at this point.
Salgado is registered with Tigres' Liga Premier (formerly Segunda Division) team. He started and scored in their opener.
Bump. I haven’t heard Omar’s name in ages but “USL El Paso” had a presser today and Omar was named as the club’s first signing. He spoke of his excitement in returning to his hometown of El Paso. I didn’t realize he was still at Tigres. Nonetheless, El Paso’s GM mentioned Omar was loaned to the Las Vegas Lights for the remainder of the current USL season.
Follow-up: https://www.uslchampionship.com/news_article/show/975921 Omar Salgado’s career has taken him from El Paso, Texas to different countries, and seen him represent both the United States and Mexico at the international level, but according to a guest column for the El Paso Times published Monday, signing with his hometown club – 2019 USL expansion side El Paso Locomotive FC – is “a dream come true.”
