That game was a negative, disgrace and a complete embarrassment for the entire organization. It showed the world what a “small team” we really are. They would have been better off not making the postseason.
They wouldn’t have been embarrassed by losing 5-0! If you think that making the playoffs and subsequently losing in the way they did was or is in any way positive , then good for you but I believe it’s a shame and a disgrace for the club and their fans. Most teams improve from year to year after making the playoffs. This team got worse and regressed back to being the worst in the league and it started with that loss.
not to mention we were routinely get blown out on the road by those kind of results. totally embarrassing end to a crap season.
So far in the last three years , I see nothing but negatives. Four failed DP's , Innocent, MPG , Vako and Magnus Eriksson. Three coaches A fired GM and new one A president quitting and a new one being named No academy players who have made their way to being starters after 8 years of trying An aging center forward in Wondo No midfielder's other than Shea Salinas running up and down the wing A worthless GK and a worse defense So barely making the playoffs last year and losing 5-0 was positive?
Yeah but what about making the 2017 playoffs? What about firing the coach? What about firing the GM and president? What about John Fisher? What about bringing in other investors? What about we are the worst team in MLS? What about selling the franchise? What about let's hope they don't relocate? What about.....…..?????????
Yesterday, the long-time fan who sits behind me had his "listening session" before the game. To his surprise, it was a one-on-one extremely informative, frank, and worthwhile exchange. Has anyone else done that yet? Apparently, he learned that Fisher has attended almost every home game this season, which I did not realize. (I have seen Fisher at a couple of games in a seat in section 106, but he left the seat at halftime).
At this point, I'm wondering which of you will break first. Will Fisher cave to your pressure or will you give up and realize he isn't interested in speaking publicly?
If I thought Fisher speaking publicly would have somehow improved the team's performance, then sure, I'd want him to speak all the time. I don't think that's the case, and usually when executives talk about the thing they are in charge of, it's not substantive. They can't pin you down on something you said if you never said anything.
What we really need to do is stop pretending we are a "small team" and somehow need to resort to "Moneyball" tactics to be successful. The only MLS team in the Bay Area, one of the RICHEST regions on this planet with over 8 million folks. Our Quakes need to start reflecting this reality! We need: owners who actually give a damn, perhaps more investors with deep pockets, and a real (finished) stadium that is more attractive for Silicon Valley investment (see Chase Center SF); corporate sponsorships and premium seat sales. Enough of this "small team" crap!!
