If you take him for someone with zero business sense, then feel free not to rule Miami out. If you think he has more than a handful of working brain cells, and is intelligent enough to do some research prior to investing his time and golden ticket, then the answer is a resounding no to Miami. He is going to end up in LA most likely, with NY2 being a somewhat possible second option. Those are the places where he can make the most money as an owner. Why on Earth would he take a risk on anything less? Because of "South Beach"? That's just nonsense. To me the question is, does getting involved in LA or NY preclude him legally from joining up with someone else, say Orlando just for an example, long enough to use his discount ticket to get them in, then flip his stake in the new club for a tidy profit? If he can, to me that's the no-brainer way for him to get the best of all possibilities and make him even more obscenely rich than he his already for a soccer player.
Sure there is. There are three or four guys in Miami that constantly email and Tweet at Garber, Beckham, and Claure begging them to come to South Beach. LMAO
And yesterday news that Becks theoretically might be interested in acquiring Chivas USA. LA2 or Miami Relocation? What about Vegas? What about the shirt sponsor being Becks beer lol. In this scenario his ownership option would not apply. Therefore it would not make sense to move LA2 to miami if an expansion team would cost him much less. Based on the numbers in the article 15 million less to be exact. http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2013/05/17/connecting-false-dots-on-chivas-usa/
In this scenario his ownership option would not apply. IF given that opportunity, just how badly would Becks & company want to own Chivas (LA2). He would be forfeiting the option & paying full price (rumors circulating that number is about $40 Million). Most if not all of that transaction would probably be coming from his partners anyway. There is another scenario rarely mentioned but very possible. Assuming that Chivas USA gets relocated to X location, LA2 would then be available for expansion. He would be able to exercise his expansion club option, since only New York was off the table. Can't imagine the league office being all too happy about getting only $25 Mill for LA2. Regardless how they would feel about it, technically it's very possible. Though I'm sure they would try very hard to avoid being in that predicament.

I doubt he will be going in it by himself , paying $40 mil out of his own pocket and if he does, it is really not all that much money for him. All he has to do is sell his home in France and maybe another one he has somewhere else. Also, as we've seen in the past, its not like this rule or stipulation (however its written) can't be reworded or changed by MLS.
It is set in stone that the 20th MLS team will be owned by Man City and the Yankees. The question is whether they can get the Queens stadium deal and what will be the temp home for 2015. At this point you have to feel they are confident. The Yankees and Man City are going to get a state of the art stadium. The question is where?
They start play in a temporary venue in 2015. Why the rush? Any thoughts? Edit: According to NYT "The fledgling New York City Football Club may play its inaugural season at Yankee Stadium." http://www.nytimes.com/2013/05/22/s...ls-franchise-in-new-york.html?ref=sports&_r=0
any idea what this will do for structure? i don't see a single table in the near future, so i'm guessing either houston or sporting will get kicked into the western conference
Oh man, how do the execs/owners of the new version of the NYCosmos feel now???? That announcement had to be a kick in the spherical reproductor organs!
The Yankees. I didn't see that coming either. That was smart-- the Yankees have been through the park-replacement part of the approvals process before, and will also lend legitimacy and influence. I wish it had been the Cosmos, but NYCFC will be great too.
