Good God. I'm no talent scout or coach. I'm just your average Joe soccer fan.

But Victor Guzman is the one player that I think can be truly elite.

He can play anywhere in the midfield. The injury really hurt him. Hopefully he is next to go after Guti.

Víctor Guzmán was tearing it up before his injury

I’m pretty confident he would have gone to Russia if not for that injury. Hopefully he gets back in form and takes part in the next cycle

Decent list but how you gonna diss Gallardo like that?! Undisputed starter and was one of our most consistent & best players overall this WC.

My nuts shriveled when I saw that goal as I thought about how he could’ve been in Russia over Gio

Although the world cup was disappointing, I am excited for the future. I'm not excited in the sense of "oh, this coming generation will be way better than the last." How many times have we heard that? Too many.

I'm just excited that so many players will be retiring and we will have the opportunity to see a new crop of young players develop and see a project play out, for better or worse. It feels like starting fresh, and it feels nice.

He's easy to forget! So skilled on the ball, but appears when he wants to, which is not much.

Even if he had been healthy and scored 20 goals in 6 months Osorio wasn't going to take him, he was in love with Giovani as a "pet project", just like he says he discovered Chucky he probably thought he was going to "recover" Gio and claim it was him who fixed him. Osorio might look humble but the guy clearly had a big ego, that lack of self criticism is very telling.

The thing is that I doubt he’ll continue to play left back at the club level. And I don’t see him tearing it up as left winger.

I hope i’m wrong and he continues to develop as a left back.

The guy shut me up. He played well.

All due respect to Gallardo. He played hard and defended to national team jersey.

But Gallardo is seriously a perfect metaphor for why the Osorio tenure has been/was so frustrating. He is not an exceptional left back. He is not an exceptional left winger. He just has the ability to be mediocre (to good AT TIMES) at both.

Being able to play two positions at an average level was valued over being able to excel at one position. So it gave you many options, but always wanting more. Blue balls.
