My friends, i was reading a little bit about Concachampions history and both wikipedia and rsssf says that in 1976, Serbian white eagles were qualified to the cup but withdrew before play León.

In the 3rd round, Toronto Italia, who won NY Inter Giuliana also were desqualified after won Toluca by w/o.

in 1992 edition, Vancouver 86ers also lost by w/o against Hamilton International from Bermuda.

Why these withdrew happened? no money enough to travel? lack of interest on this tournament??

This kinda weird that canadian clubs only started to make it to Concachampions regularly since 2008/09.

Travel has always been expensive from Canada to anywhere else and is a deal-breaker even now as they're trying to set up the CPL. Until MLS came along, none of the team owners could really afford the $40,000 it would cost for a team return trip to the Carribean or Mexico.
