How many of us how often have to say it? The MSM have a conservative bias; the right accuses them of leftness to keep them in line, not because it is true. IMO you are far enough right that a conservative bias is to the left of you, and so appears left.
This is being driven by those who don't want restrictions. Listen to what the right is saying - they are scared and trying to control the narrative. Also, that narrative is about mental health access, not over all gun safety and prevention.
No, actually this is you trying to attempt a bizarro world refresh, to which I am not inclined to agree.

Who knew the Moonies were pro-gun? Shutterstock A Pennsylvania-based offshoot of the Unification Church is encouraging couples to bring their AR-15 rifles with them to a commitment ceremony in the Pocono Mountains, a half-mile from an elementary school. World Peace and Unification Sanctuary in Newfoundland said it planned the Feb. 28 ceremony months ago, well before last week’s massacre at a Florida high school. Authorities say the alleged gunman used an AR-15 in the attack that killed 17. Tim Elder, the Unification Sanctuary’s director of world missions, said Tuesday the church believes the AR-15 symbolizes the “rod of iron” mentioned in the Bible’s apocalyptic book of Revelation. The church website directs couples to show up to the ceremony with an AR-15 “or equivalents such as an AK semiautomatic rifle, representing both the intent and the ability to defend one’s family, community … ” https://nypost.com/2018/02/20/church-encourages-couples-to-bring-ar-15-rifles-to-be-blessed/
That's about a 20 minute drive from where I live. The town is a mix of Mennonites, Moravians, Quakers, Unitarian-Universalists ... and these nutballs who from what I've heard keep to themselves. Not in the "live and let live" way, but in the paranoid A.F. way. The Mrs. and I haven't been there for a couple of years, but there are a couple of nice diners there, and the people we met are pretty normal, nice folks. Curious if these people have changed the tone. FWIW, they're maybeten miles from the compound of the Turkish guy that Erdogan wants to have extradited for that coup that he put down last year.
Most of those North Pocono towns are pretty quiet places. Newfoundland deserves better than these guys. Oh, FYI pronounced NewFOUNDland.
Not all "survivors" of shootings think the same, By the way, if you lived in NYC during 9/11 are you a survivor? https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/feb/19/columbine-survivor-bill-concealed-carry-schools/
The idea that the gun debate is going to be one sided in the future may not be all that correct. This is from 2015. 2 things jumped at me. http://www.people-press.org/2015/08...und-checks-on-gun-sales/8-12-2015-3-58-40-pm/
The Trump meeting was a farce. A set up for some NRA shill to promote more guns in schools. Concealed carry. For teachers, cooks anyone who can toss lead down school corridors. Obviously planned using the kids as dupes. Gawd I hate that orange asshole.
Honest question and thank you for letting me use this as a jumping off point @usscouse I belong to a few discussion forums (Facebook groups and websites that cater to my hobbies). I have interactions with teachers and AFAIK no teachers are talking about arming themselves. I am going to ask any educators that are here about their thoughts of teachers being armed. TBH I have only heard this as an option from non-educators. So hearing from educators would be a different POV
No probleml Raz. I'd be curious to find out what educators really think. My point of view is from someone who has been around guns and understands them both from the military and from police training. It's not as easy as people might think. Carrying a gun and using a gun are far and away too different items.
The problem is that this has been happening for 30 years (I think it is you who has said that another 30 years and we will repeal the 2nd and all will be good), and things only seem to be getting worse. I was running for my life in a high school shooting in Florida (Pinellas Park High School) in February of 1988 ... in which 3 teachers were shot when 2 suspended students grabbed one of their parents guns at home and came to school during lunchtime. At the time, we kept reading in newspapers afterwards that we should not overreact about guns, this is just a random thing, etc etc etc. And here I am, literally 30 years later, after yet ANOTHER school shooting, hearing from a segment of the media that we should not overreact about guns, this is just a random thing, etc etc etc. As someone who lived through this as a kid, it is mighty depressing.
Nothing to see here, move along, eh? I don't remember Charlie Whitman myself, but it's worth noting that his name stands out. I have to Google to recall the names of the folks who followed him because they multiply like rabbits.
I wouldn't do it, for a variety of reasons. And I can't imagine any place I'd ever worked pursuing it as an option.

I have to Google to recall the names of the folks who followed him because they multiply like rabbits. I keep seeing this come up about teachers being armed, missing the shooter and hitting a student. I'd probably have had to avoid making a list when I taught 9th graders. I am kidding, of course... but there were a few I wouldn't mourn.
