Well....I can understand the guy pulling a gun.

Police did not disclose the minor's identity, but witnesses said he'd been throwing eggs at cars with two other teens when a man allegedly brandished a firearm and began chasing them, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. His vehicle may have been damaged by the eggs, according to the office.o_O

Did the other motorist have a license to carry the semiautomatic weapon?

was the weapon loaded (in some states you can only drive with an unloaded weapon)?

If the 14 year old had thrown an egg at the women's car causing her to crash and die would you say the 14 year old should get charged with murder?

If the other driver had yelled obscenities to the 14 year old causing the 14 year old to panic and make the women crash her car, who would you want the 14 y/o to be charged with murder?

Waving a gun around may also be illegal, depending on the state, probably not Texas.

In California he could have been charged with brandishing.

    https://www.losangelescriminallawye...ction-417-pc-brandishing-a-weapon-or-fir.html

    Texas does have this

    Penal code #42 section 8.

I would imagine the legal interpretation of that is if the brandishing of the firearm does not involve some form of self-defense or attempt to prevent a crime from being committed. So, in this case, the kid(s) were committing a crime that is inherently dangerous. It could be argued that the guy brandishing the firearm was with the intent to stop them from committing that crime. Now, chasing them is a different matter, but that doesn't mean the brandishing of the firearm itself was a crime.

Destroying brown eggs would be OK, but breaking white ones is a crime, right?

Not so easy to be sure anymore, since the whole Montana Dolezal Bantam scandal broke- seems those eggs had been, uh, paas-ing for brown...

What am I missing here? Whatever the crime is for heaving a couple eggs...a boot in the arse should suffice.

My Bro, the Cardiologist, threw an egg and soiled a girls coat when he was in H.S. [65+ yrs ago] Her father came to our house unarmed. My Dad paid to get it cleaned.

Your example isn’t particularly applicable here.. Throwing anything at a car is inherently dangerous. There isn’t any way to know how the driver reacts. If they swerve, they could hit something/someone/etc.

Additionally, the fact the kid was in a car while throwing eggs means the only way to boot his ass is to do what the guy did and chase after them, which is most likely would have resulted in the kid doing the exact same thing and still resulted in the accident..

So's running with scissors. Anyways we don't know the kid or the gunslinger. I guess it wouldn't have escalated if the kids had just mooned the other drivers instead like we used to do. :coffee:

    Ps...like Q'b said....it's Texas.

Orange Grove Ave, Dec 31, 1992, sometime before midnight. Guy stopped his car after getting egged, chased a couple of teens up the street, while a couple of others (including me) took canned confetti to the van. Would never do that again - would be afraid I'd get shot! Even in that neighborhood.

As a side note, egging a car is a dick move. That shit can be hard to remove and damage the paint.

    I'm proud of you!

We were never that original. We just copied everyone else at Halloween and filled a bag with doo doo, put it by the front door of the neighborhood meanie, set it afire and rang the doorbell.

Ps...I'd show you a video but our phones were still connected by string in those days. :(

So an easy way to reduce mass shootings in America is to set the standard at 10 people.

So we now have a new case study that will be happening in Brazil.

It is now easier to own guns in one of the most murderous countries in the world, I am sure there are analyst getting data from the before the law changed to compare it to date from 5-10 years from now.

We will see how much gun violence goes up or down in the coming years. Fire arm suicides rates may go up, accidental shootings may go up, rape and assault may go down (all that based on the opposite of the Australian gun ban of a few decades ago).

    We will see.

Brazil is going to be hard to draw conclusions from simply because of how violent it has been for an extended period and how lax the tracking of deaths is, particularly in the barrios..
